if the "effect" you are talking about refers to Progressive Scan mode then the answer is YES.
btw, make sure your TV can support progressive scan too. Just the cable alone won't be sufficient but i guess there's still a fair bit of improvement over Composite or S-Video. if you are not too happy about jaggies though ... you might not find it an improvement ! that's because it's just that much sharper output !
