Hi, I'm a beginner for acoustic and classical guitar which I played over 1yr and half.

I'm really struggling to read those music sheets that I found in web, be it chinese songs sheets or english. Although some of those I manage to intepret correctly, I cant played out the melody of the songs although the guitar tuned correctly. hmm.gif

Anyone pls can share me some music/songs sheets thats easy to play and interpret (not country and folks songs pls sweat.gif )? Any advice is welcomed.

Thx very much!!!! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

first know the basic - key sign, time signature, the notation itself

get familiar with the rhythmic part first ( tail ) - triplet, quintriplet, off beat. (if u check out guitar mag, they use tab with the tail to help reader with the rhythm.

the note of course represent by the dot. not the hardest part for me. only need to be memorized.

i'm still prefer tab for my notation, don't know when would I concentrate on reading notation.
but yes, sight reading is an advantage for guitarist. but u need to work on it.

I ve known all the basics(well, quite). But I didnt know those octaves, riffs and harmonics. I do refer some theories through internet and how to read sheets however its complete opposite when I look at those sheets particularly on chinese songs in those chinese web. The guitar almost couldnt produce when i strum it using barre chords goin down the neck.

I got listen to those songs i would like to play to get the tempo with the chords given but cant produce the melody as the song does. Any advice, sir?

Yeah, tabs are so so much easier. Sorry to rob the thread but is learning the taugeh notes vital to being a better player?? I would think its subjective

ok for me some part of it is essential for all guitarist to at least know about them.

for example, the rhythmic pattern. even if u read some tabs out there, they still come in rhythmic notation (tail).

why is this important? to help you precisely play your your notes on time of course.

help you practise with metronome and other thing. it all came from the notation.

and is it important to master sight reading?
if you ask me, my answer is yes and no.

if youre on a band which everyone rely on notation to put things together (should be really serious band lah this, or maybe sessionists band) then it's important to sight read.

but if you are on a band that simply play cover which u can rely on tab (which 90% u already know the arrangement, your line) then it can be pretty optional to have the ability of sight reading isnt it.

so i guess, the first is to know in what scenario are you now.

after all that's what i think lah. maybe it doesnt goes everyone's way.

Basically all I wanna know is how to read a sheet music. Like most sheet I found is not in the form of "taugeh notes" and is in the form of the chord name above with the lyrics below. No time signatures, staff, notations. This kind of sheet I really struggling to find its beat and how shd play out its melody. sweat.gif

Go download the song. Listen to the beats & strumming patterns carefully. Then, practice the chords slowly. You'll get better after sometime.

I know which type of " music sheet " you are talking about.

There are chord keys above the lyrics rights ?
Yes, download the song & play along with it. Or you can find the backing track.

Yup, u r absolutely right rclxms.gif rclxms.gif I'll try to work on that.

Now I have another thought: Thr r some songs which I listen eventhough is played by guitar but can't find these guitar sheets in web. Although one can listen the songs repeatedly and get the patterns gradually, but trying to get the chords right consumes huge amount of time. So any 1 had any idea how to make such tasks possible n in simpler way?

Why dont you buy guitar learning books like " Guitar for dummies 2nd edition " ? I bought that book 3 weeks ago & now i am learning fast from that book. I can play at least 10 songs already ... power chord based rock songs, major chords, minor chords, broken chord, all those inside the book got teach. " Power chord learnt by myself through experimenting & watching youtube videos & guitar tablatures "

Away from the topic a while.

Which guitar do u guys tink sounds better? Acoustic or classical? I'm still little puzzled whether I shd pay concentration on play classical n dump acoustic or vice versa. Hope to get opinion and advice from all of u notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

My friends told me I was kinda outdated by rely on tab to guitar, is it so?

I hope and try 2 achieve a balance between fingger-picking n strumming techniques, but the fact is now I'm concentrating finger-picking instead of strumming. As the problems back to the original point, I ve a little resources strumming songs sheet for beginners, be it in internet or guidance book found in bookstore. Any ideas?
