I prefer video to books. I have trouble learning from books, even school textbooks
Bro Layman, you have a classical or acoustic right now? See what music you like. But fingerpicking =/= classical guitar. Acoustic also can pick. Wah, which guitar sounds better is very subjective. I like the 'mellow' sound of classical strings but prefer the general sound of a good acoustic. I like lots of bass, hehe. But you can get classical sound on acoustic, sort of lah, get Silk and Steel strings. I can't read musical notation even if someone offer me $$$. So I rely on tab. There are also programs to 'play' the tab for you. I think someone called music notes 'taugeh', hehe. Well if you like finger-picking, finger-pick. I like strumming but I do fingerpicking too. Always kena that question in guitar stores. But my technique limited to hammer-ons only. Cannot do pull offs. Youtube always has good lessons. I learned the riff to 'Wonderwall' from there. But my favourite site is this one : http://grahamchoo.blogspot.com Mainly Christian music but there are good contemporary music lessons too. Try learning 'Time of Your Life' from Green Day. I can send you the chords I wrote for it if you want. The beginner song thread also good for suggestions. |

Well I didn't listen to my parents and ended up with crap teachers. Sometimes parents have this sixth sense hehehe.
Whatever you feel comfortable with. I hate taugeh notes too. The first paper I ever failed in sekolah rendah was Music heh. Glad to be of service bro |
