i don't think it can take the graphics load of assassin's creed. i think you'll probably need an ati x1k series to play that game.

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Sep 6 2009, 08:18 PM) ATI9550 is detected as X1050 in their Catalyst driver. ATI 9600 almost = ATI9550 while ATI9600 performance is almost par with ATI9550,don't think that these series of GC can handle the game. the high end x1k series should be able to at least play on medium right? cards like x1950..@unknownH, it's time to change |

yeah that's truely one beast of a card. my friend still using it, but his is pci-e version. still able to handle COD5 at mid-high settings, but i gotta say, COD series graphics are quite optimized, nice but not really taxing on the gc.

i dont think people would wanna sell this card already, those who know that this is a beast would rather keep it rite?
anyway, i just checked viewnet's pricelist, seems that x1950GT is still on their pricelist, RM209. but better call them to check the availability. they only have 3 models listed in their agp range, 2600pro, x1950gt, and 3650 only |

460w is quite ok already, my c2d rig was powered by a 390w psu before, but definitely not cap ayam one
get a good, branded psu, maybe higer wattage also can, then when you upgrade to a newer platform, you still can keep the psu. |

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Oct 17 2009, 04:13 PM) @edmin,thanks for supporting this old school thread. there's mobo that uses pci-e but still on socket 478, like we've discussed many times before. possibly some users might be using that @Jcsy,what will happen if we decode to a bigger file. I would expect more noise in the movie itself. @prasys, this old school Pentium 4 doesn't have Nvidia 8 series on AGP. So we will still need to depend on the good software and cpu resources to support HD playback. the new coreavc has an option to use cuda acceleration, which i think should make the graphic card work more, and even less load on the proc, which is a good thing |

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Oct 18 2009, 11:52 AM) Old school board with PCI-e slot? I think if putting a 8 series like 8600GT or GTS is still fine. Else if thinking to put 8800GT/GTS cam just forget about it cause the serious bottleneck is there with Pentium 4. agreed. anyway highend 8 series is already an overkill to pair with budget proc like p4 |

oh yeah, forgot about that 64bit thing
if not mistaken socket 775 P4s can support 64bit right? use to see the EM64T thingy on cpu systems specs last time.. if 32bit might as well make the full use of it, go for 3gb ram |

if your current specs are able to run vista smoothly, then i guess win 7 shouldn't be a problem, coz it's much more optimized in terms of performance compared to vista.
