@unknownH, it has 32mb cache, so it should be faster than those 16mb cache drives. otherwise i think it's just the same with other WD caviar green hdd. @fylon, long time no see i guess it's easy to get a 478 mobo now that everyone's starting to move to newer tech. i see a lot of p4 boards poppoing up at garage sales

now 500GB, 640GB and 808GB are priced pretty close together, you might end up buying another 808GB instead

yes, COD4. not really well though, hiccups here and there. maybe coz i'm playing at quite a high reso, but options set to the most low. nothing has to be running other than the game, no msn, browser, etc etc. otherwise will become almost like slideshow

@raymond, i think 2gb is the sweet spot for windows xp, and for our p4 systems.
@unknownH, yeah, i see at garage sales mostly old generation cards, like the ati 9k series or geforce 5 series. newer series quite rare already.

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Nov 18 2009, 09:48 PM) I think the optimal one will be at 2GB but 3GB will be the best cause you may boost your system faster without the need for virtual memory from our HDDs. I have a Leadtek 5900 lying around. Are you interested? Added on November 18, 2009, 9:51 pmSoap the RAM,an amazing way to save your RAM. Maybe we can wash our mobos too. currently don't need agp gc already i think UnknownH is looking for sm3.0 gc if can wash then it'll be good easy to clean, coz i'm lazy to clean up the dust on the mobo and other hardwares This post has been edited by dlwl: Nov 19 2009, 10:38 AM

fuh...almost spent the whole day setting up my p4 replacement, the athlon x2 seems like the mobo is quite picky on rams. this set of rams was used on a gaygay mobo running dual channel, on this mobo cant. keep giving me restarts at bios. seems like the timings are not right. even tried manual timings, even worse, cant boot at all. maybe some sifu here can help me

QUOTE(KahLooN @ Nov 20 2009, 07:37 AM) Probably can you list down the spec for this setup? Athlon X2 3800+ Abit AN-M2 512MB Mushkin RAM 8500GT 320GB HDD DVD-ROM there's another thing, the bios sometimes just hangs at boot, i've to reboot again a few times

QUOTE(KahLooN @ Nov 20 2009, 01:22 PM) I guess you must already update the BIOS right? Since you also mention "the bios sometimes just hangs at boot", I would suspect might caused by proc or ram. I'm not really sure other symptom. Maybe others can help? Bios is already updated to the latest. I guess the proc should be ok, if not supported it wouldn't be detected at the startup rite? btw, i think it's better we proceed to this thread here, don't wanna off topic http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1233224
