Usually our old school CPU isn't able to perform well in high resolution + high end card due to the old architecture. If decided to get a PCI-E base card, might consider any Geforce 8 series or ATI 4xxx series.

@edministrator,your labtop is running at the min. requirement of Win7 starter there. sweat.gif I guess your lappy now is only using for testing purpose with torrent there. P4 is aging,it is harder and harder for us to cope with new technology. Guess P4 is going to be replaced totally in 1-2 years time.

How you manage to install the Win XP drivers there? Win 7 will not block them from installing if driver is not signed?

I feel my P4 is dying. sad.gif This morning my P4 cannot boot at all. When i press power button, Bios cannot upload, blank screen and no beep sound. PSU still running with CPU fan but when i saw HD LED is not blinking. It's just light on like green LED at mobo.
*
Mobo problem? Reset the bios doesn't help any?

Get another mobo for S478 and meanwhile prepare yourself to get a LGA rig? Your P4EE will be wasted if run on cap ayam brand mobo.

@ravewar,keep the 865P chipset with you. It is a far far better chipset than VIA one.

better expandability options too, just in case you need to use pci cards,
since it's a full-fledged atx mobo
*
I guess that somehow the PCI-E based cards are not needed if he doesn't need to have extra SATA port to support the storage.

yeah...the intel 865 board has lotsa pic slots....and able to put in additional PCI sata ports... hmm.gif ....can have more hdds connected...but it doesn't have a built-in network, so currently has a PCI network card...

the jetway VIA chipset mobo has a very small footprint and very compact...simple design...good for HTPC applications....but that's about it...hmmm...

seems like the 865 is still a favourite for P4 guys aaaa.. nod.gif
*
Just get a network can and plug in and you still left 4 slots for additional PCI cards. Your main purpose of your rig is to become a HTPC? Which type of casing are you going to use then?

Was look around in the forum, found that most of the seller were selling at 275-295 but i got mine from nic (1 of the local seller in my place) which cost me 265/pcs. So loot two unit at the same time. The price is shooting up soon.
This the 1st time I turn over to Samsung bro.. But I keep that two f3 for storage purpose. A little bit of waste. Haha! laugh.gif My main drive still is Seagate 500gb. Selling off my raptor cause wanna have lesser hdd and gain the most cap.
Yea! Is darn fast! Get around 100mb/s constant for copying files into this fella. And another good thing is, this fella quite cold. Even in loading, hardly to feel to heat when touch it.
*
Can get constant writing speed on the HDD which is considering fast. thumbup.gif Are you planning to RAID them ? brows.gif Sell of your Seagate 500GB and make Samsung Spin F to be your main HDD there.
