Yup,i think so. i7? I see internet says going to phase out already.

yeah, it's a shame that it's gonna get phased out so fast. only the extreme models will still remain. i guess more priority given to the i5 line.
*
Another member spotted to shift to i5.

QUOTE(fylon @ Jun 30 2009, 06:35 PM)
Haha.. Yea! So LG775 & S478 still the best.. They are the socket that last the longest time in the market. laugh.gif
*
I think S478 isn't so long compare to LGA775. S478 is about 4 years life time while LGA775 has been around for 6 years at least.

p4 2.4B Northwood & crappy Asrock P4V88 ( can't OC due to VIA chipset) + & 7300GT if sell sure can't get anything..better i use for internet surfing laugh.gif
*
I know VIA chipset can make slight o/c from stock,not sure with your model. O/c the GC to get few more frames.

Yeah,HTPC i have is also a low profile one.Keep them as toy collector.I'm proud of being a P4 user here.

@ray
how is your x26XT running HD? any cpu bottleneck? i believe your pc now can run 1080p without a sweat already. right?
*
My HD2600XT is running great. I tried HD720 only,so far i don't have any HD1080 movie to playback. I ran 3D mark 06 on my proc and GC,seems like there is a little bottleneck on my proc on high resolution details as i have done some research on internet,with better proc like LGA775 + PCI-E based HD2600XT they are able to achieve 5k+/- while mine is around 3.3k only.

fylon tested his P4 3.0 with MX4000, no problem to play 720p also. kabu,no need to worry of the old school to playback HD movies.

1080HD? Slide show lo.. laugh.gif

@Ray
No GC encode, the cpu usage quite high. Big gap between P4 and Quad when u see the cpu usage on HD playback. Hahah! Time to go DC.. Report back to night. Will take benchmark. laugh.gif Before and after.. Especially Pi score.
*
1080P is slide show. biggrin.gif I understand with no help from GC encoding is going to utilize high CPU usage. No doubt there is a huge gap,not big gap between P4 and Quad core. sweat.gif Going to DC?Hehe,i think the benchmark for Super PI 1M will be > 80s.

Take a look of the print screen of this guy's rig. He was capable to play 1080P video playback with low cpu usage.

Added on July 1, 2009, 5:22 pm@fylon,i'm not sure what are the process and codec use to decode and encode a movie.It's kind of completed,all i know is my rig now is playing 720p smoothly. tongue.gif

Hey guys, I know I no longer use a s478 system but I need to ask for some help laugh.gif

Lately when I plug in any USB device, like thumbdrives, printers etc my pc will freeze momentarily. For about 3-4 secs then back to normal. Anyone knows why? unsure.gif
*
Hmm,have no idea. Usually the screen will not freeze unless the Windows isn't clean enough.

QUOTE(dlwl @ Jul 2 2009, 12:59 AM)
@ray,
from the screenshot doesn't seem like he's using coreavc. tweaking on the options on mpc perhaps?
or is there anything to do with ati's avivo?
*
I have no idea man. I bought the HD2600XT form him.Maybe i can pm him.

@kabukiawie, I'm not sure with that. Hardware acceleration with HD movie playback.I guess i have to PM him and ask for details.The link is showing that HD3xxx and above is able to support but i got other info from AMD website too.
http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/gra...-gpu-specs.aspx

@fylon,currently i'm with CoreAVC too. edmin has guided me how to force the mpc to use coreAVC codec. Previously my setting wasn't pointed at coreAVC.

@jcsy,I think you can force the software to use coreAVC codec to play HD movies. Did you set that?

@dlwl,
yes HD2xxx series has avivo but i have no idea how to use it.Lolz

Added on July 2, 2009, 1:35 pmHi all,correct link for Sapphire HD2600XT AGP is here.

@Ray, you can also achieve similar results. Dump your coreavc, just install latest Klite mega codec pack. following the guide on Guru3D, enable the DVXA acceleration. Coreavc is still computing on your CPU. Using DVXA, it will run entirely on GPU.
*
Guys,you can try MPC Home Cinema.I PMed the guy and he said he was using MPC Home Cinema. He said coreAVC isn't going to utilize the hardware acceleration.
