No matter u reinstall, wipe or reset all settings, the BUYR still will show the actual one and will not reset to zero. Unless someone found a way to reset this BUYR

u can't reset the data usage. it is meant for new buyer to ensure that the set they buy is a new set.

for data usage monitoring, u can try this http://www.ehnert.net/MiniMoni/
there has been a lot of comment that it is only accurate with the older BB model, but so far i think it is quite accurate for my bold on .266

Well hey guys,I have a sorta complicated problem here with bb bold.So my gf brought back a bb bold from Australia and its locked. She sent it to a phone shop to unlock and the phone dealer said its sorta unlocked already but when put in sim cannot detect, but he returned the phone without charging my girlfriend anything.(but he did change the original battery to a local msian battery, such cheap ass phone dealer right)

So my question here is it as long as the network there says active its still locked?or is there anything I need to take notice?Cause I've heard if we try to unlock the phone twice it might cause damage to the phone and also my gf got the unlocking pin from her service provider already so she can do it herself.Anyway, her phone says network : active and the rest is : disabled , does it mean the phone is still locked?and I can ask her go ahead with unlocking her phone using the unlocking code sent by her service provider?

Thanks for the help in advance!

I once had this problem. I sent in my phone to unlock, but when i get back my phone..the network still shows as active.

However, the shop did ask me to do a few things:
1) Set the network to 3G & 2G (mine is Storm)
2) call ##000000, and set the number to your local number

And then i could call and sms and so on..but it still shows network as active, hence i upgraded the firmware to OS 5.0 and the network shows as Inactive now...no idea why thou.

1. ALT-L-G-L-G shows a log file press bb button clear log to free memory space.

2. On the home screen, u can press ALT+NMLL and it will show you signal strength in decibel instead of the bars.

try the memory cleaner that comes with your BB

OPTIONS > SECURITY OPTIONS > MEMORY CLEANER

I find it pretty good, you can even put it in your home screen for easy access

Hope this helps thumbup.gif

i come across a situation where the hidden commands shows NO problem and yet when trying to activate the BIS locally, the local telco says RIM suspended the PIN (although the hidden command shows the PIN)....

be careful all when buying bb devices!

regarding the Data amount after typing MEPD, the data Usage amount, does it include the data used in WIFI or is it stating the amount used by the quota your provider allowed? because i had my BB a few days ago and it its mostly on WIFI but it states that i have used 33000K, which is quite impossible..

Hi guys, can i know how can i block my BB pin?

last week , my 9700 BB celcom got stolen..i already change a new sim card but still using my nokia phone..
my question is, can i block my BB pin number to avoid the theft using my BB..
i just check on http://www.mobileemail.vodafone.com.my/ ...i do not change my BB pin yet, so, is it consider, i am not releasing my BB yet?
or in does not mean anything..

If he/she using digi or other telco provider..will the simcards works?in other words, can he/she using BIS services?

Hi Guys...

Perhaps some of you already know theres a built in hidden command shortcut in a blackberry which can check your uptime, voice/data usage, etc
For who didn't know it i share it with you here. and i hope it will be usefull

To Check Your Device General Information:

At the home screen of your Berry
press: alt + shift + h

this is what gonna appear

Your PIN will be shown, but If the PIN: Suspended, means u can't use BlackBerry Internet Service. Don't Buy it!!!

To Check Your Device Voice/Data Usage:

A Brand New item should not exceed the limit

Go to: Options > Status > Type: BUYR (for qwerty KeyPad)

Go to: Options > Status > Type: BUZR (for qwertz KeyPad)

for data usage monitoring, u can try this http://www.ehnert.net/MiniMoni/
there has been a lot of comment that it is only accurate with the older BB model, but so far i think it is quite accurate for my bold on .266

Sim disabled
Network Inactive
Network Subset disabled
Service Provider Disabled
Corporate Disabled

Only network is inactive instead of disable. does this means my bb is locked? bcoz i can't seem to get the bis service until now. my bis service already activated by celcom but i can't use the service. Pls advice.

There is no way, unless you know the user before. Only he/she can released the PIN with the Telco he/she used before.. Seems like your PIN really being blocked..

1. Go to the menu on your blackberry (just press the button with the symbol of the blackberry)

2. Go to settings

3. Then go to options

4. Choose Advanced options

5. Choose sim card

6. Type MEPD

7. Will be a lot of options, like SIM, Network, Network Subset, Service Provider, and corporate. There will be information, enable or disable

8. If the description show Enable more than disabled, it can be said if your blackberry is still locked by a particular operator

9. If the status is disabled, then you’ve unlocked blackberry

Refer post #147 then you will know it is a lock and unlocked set.. SIM Card is there or not also no problem..

Most of the BlackBerry dosent have receipt because the bought from Telco.. Receipt only provided if they bought AP Set from dealer/shops..

If your vendor is Vodafone then should be lock by them.. Just double check with your previous seller make him/her released the PIN that he/she used before.. If you go yourself to DiGi I worried they might not entertained you. Better go with your previous seller..

You can amend the packet size sent to the device in the MDS settings on the BES.

You want to goto general and Maximum KB/Connection. I think the max is 1024, we moved this to 512 to handle more data.

So how abt the data then ? Users will still have to tie up with telco for data rite ? Only BES using own server. Correct ?

Celcom has this service whereby the phonebok is updated on the server live and can be accessed from web. Does it only apply for BES subscriber or BIS also has it?

I also can't make any conclusion about that.
I got the above usage from one of my customer's BB, which he intended to sell off.
And he told me his set is 1 year old already..
So, maybe he make less voice call within this 1 whole year? hmm.gif

After years of trying to figure this out, I'm pretty sure it breaks down to Days/hours/minutes/seconds on the lifetime usage meter. To find the hours out you take Days and multiply by 24, then add the hours slot. The guy posting a page or so back was in the unique position of proving this because he stated his timer was at 8/23/45/ and whatever seconds. he's only a 16 minute phone call away from all three fields turning. I have done this myself and it has proven to change the way I explained. This is only strict voice usage between when you press the Send key and End key. It only shows how much the phone has been used in hours and minutes and does not round up the way most SP's do.

What I would like to know is how to find this on EVERY Blackberry. The BUYR code only works on some, and not others. Some show the "Exceded" message and some show IT Policy or something like that. I need a foolproof way of getting a Blackberry Lifetime Usage reading. Almost every Manufacturer out there has it; except BB. Very Frustrating, especially when your in the refurbished phone business such as I am. I'm trying to prove alot of these "New" phones bought on line are reall Very Old phones with new housings...Any help will be greatly appreciated. Hope the info up top is useful for someone.

QUOTE(peakcelln @ Dec 30 2010, 06:28 AM)

The reason why I spend the time to do it is because Its my business. I Repair and refurbish phones. I do not do new activations/Upgrades any longer; I couldnt stand the mandate to lie to your customers. Most of us "Old School" guys who started the Industry, are out because of this BS. OR, theyre doing what I do.

However, Blackberry's have always been a thorn in my side because their Total Usage cannot be read. I thought the BUYR code was finally the answer, only to find out it wasnt consistant.

I am an honest guy in a very Dishonest Industry and it hurts my business. Not knowing what the total usage on a phone is before you buy it is like buying a used car regardless of what the odometer says. Whats worst is all the companies sticking new housings(Lcd Tape and All) on old boards and calling them new. In any other Industry this would be Criminal.

I'm really hoping someone from BB would tell me the code...There's got to be one, or a program to read the file....

interesting. perhaps you should contact blackberry or RIM themselves?

Hmm, probably those crooks selling refurbished phone as new found out the way to modify value of the usage data or to view it as another value.

Ya, I know the UI has changed drastically; but the lifetime Call timer BS is still the same...I just dont understand why they do this; and why more customers don't complain...But thats another thread.

Right now I have about 15 BB's in my store and only 5 or six have the correct hours listed...I need to get this resolved. I'm just shocked even the experts on this page don't know...Shows how deep this problem is. How do any of you know the warranty replacement, or insurance replacement you get, doesnt have 500, 700, or even over 1000 hours on it? These subcontractor companys the SP's use for these replacements are the worst offenders of all; I've caught them redhanded many times in my last 17yrs in this business; and the SP's know it as well because I've showed them my proof. This is one of the reasons I dont activate for any of them anymore, And I was once the largest in my state.

I think I wrote in my first post here, that only works 30 % of the time; depending on SP and Model. Most times it gives you either the "Exceded" message or "IT policy" message for bot Data and Calls. I need an outside program, or fool proof code to read this consistently.

If contact by sim nothing can be done you got to do it manually...

My advice is sync all contact to Outlook on whatever smartphone we are using so that in future we can sync it back to our BlackBerry.. Another way is Google Sync also works for BlackBerry...

Yes it will charge you based on wap after exceeded the BIS limit..

But depends on which package you are taking from Telco. You got to call them verify..

Mine dosent inccured additional charges if overlimit. It will just slow down my speed once reaches limit...

i just know that blackberry have hidden code to check whether the phone is brand new..not refurbished(recon)
it will show the history of call usage and data usage..so if the seller claim brand new..so data and call history ...everything must be zero..

anyone know about this?

To Check Your Device General Information:

At the home screen of your Berry
press: alt + shift + h

this is what gonna appear
user posted image

Your PIN will be shown, but If the PIN: Suspended, means u can't use BlackBerry Internet Service. Don't Buy it!!!

To Check Your Device Voice/Data Usage:
A Brand New item should not exceed the limit

Go to: Options > Status > Type: BUYR (for qwerty KeyPad)

Go to: Options > Status > Type: BUZR (for qwertz KeyPad)

Go to OPTIONS/STATUS and then pull up your keyboard and type the following: buyr You'll get three new lines of info, one for total device time voice usage, one for total device time data usage and the last one tells you if the phone is BIS or BES...

Good luck on trying!

AT the moment BlackBerry apps only can be installed into phone. There no apps to move the apps to SD currently.

So choose wisely which apps you need mostly for your BlackBerry...

I noticed that i only have 3G with no Blackberry icon and also I try to register the host routing table. It said that registration message sent. But i havent received any confirmation email. Anyone know what is and how to resolve the problem? Tqvm
