After years of trying to figure this out, I'm pretty sure it breaks down to Days/hours/minutes/seconds on the lifetime usage meter. To find the hours out you take Days and multiply by 24, then add the hours slot. The guy posting a page or so back was in the unique position of proving this because he stated his timer was at 8/23/45/ and whatever seconds. he's only a 16 minute phone call away from all three fields turning. I have done this myself and it has proven to change the way I explained. This is only strict voice usage between when you press the Send key and End key. It only shows how much the phone has been used in hours and minutes and does not round up the way most SP's do.

What I would like to know is how to find this on EVERY Blackberry. The BUYR code only works on some, and not others. Some show the "Exceded" message and some show IT Policy or something like that. I need a foolproof way of getting a Blackberry Lifetime Usage reading. Almost every Manufacturer out there has it; except BB. Very Frustrating, especially when your in the refurbished phone business such as I am. I'm trying to prove alot of these "New" phones bought on line are reall Very Old phones with new housings...Any help will be greatly appreciated. Hope the info up top is useful for someone.

The reason why I spend the time to do it is because Its my business. I Repair and refurbish phones. I do not do new activations/Upgrades any longer; I couldnt stand the mandate to lie to your customers. Most of us "Old School" guys who started the Industry, are out because of this BS. OR, theyre doing what I do.

However, Blackberry's have always been a thorn in my side because their Total Usage cannot be read. I thought the BUYR code was finally the answer, only to find out it wasnt consistant.

I am an honest guy in a very Dishonest Industry and it hurts my business. Not knowing what the total usage on a phone is before you buy it is like buying a used car regardless of what the odometer says. Whats worst is all the companies sticking new housings(Lcd Tape and All) on old boards and calling them new. In any other Industry this would be Criminal.

I'm really hoping someone from BB would tell me the code...There's got to be one, or a program to read the file....

ic. sadly, i can't help you in this. I have don't have much idea on this. Good luck~ rclxub.gif

interesting. perhaps you should contact blackberry or RIM themselves?

Hmm, probably those crooks selling refurbished phone as new found out the way to modify value of the usage data or to view it as another value.

As for blackberry, I'm pretty sure the encryption for blackberry software much better compare to other phones to be hacked easily

LOL...I just noticed the Sub Title to the board...I just Googled BB lifetime Caller Code or something like that and it brought me to this forum, among a few others. I was wondering what the hect LOWYAT meant and what it had to do with BB's...lol

Anyway, I'm hoping someone out there can help me...

Yup, welcome =)
If you're Malaysian, you'll definitely know what is Lowyat.

It easily can be considered as a popular online market site, and many other sub forums such as Blackberry, which you are here now biggrin.gif
