I think its nearly 2 years plus since I was the Overclockers United daily poster and after a longgggg 'holiday' I would like to start again...
But before I start, I would like to ask regarding which boards listed below would be the best for OC stuffs...
Probably go for the 780G chipset, but I still find there are variations of SB700 and SB750. Is the later has better functions? Owh and I probably pair it with 7750 BE...
1.Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H 2.ECS A780GM-A Ultra 3.ASUS M3A78 Pro

QUOTE(cyberloner @ Apr 30 2009, 06:18 AM) None of that... DFI 790FXB M2RSH I remember argue with u Hehehehe...such an irony to have you vouching for DFI....because at the time when we both 'discussed' you were in the Abit camp and me was the DFI camp (and seller too).... Anyway, I wont be spending that kinda money nowadays primarily for OC....i think the 7750 and any 780G boards that I've listed would suffice my everyday use already... thanks... QUOTE(cdlim87 @ Apr 30 2009, 08:38 AM) welcome sir! i would say board with ACC will help ur phenom architecture chip OC futher... which mean only board come with SB710 and SB750 support ACC feature.. hope this help. ok then, will look for the ACC....

QUOTE(cdlim87 @ Apr 30 2009, 09:40 AM) wow, i like ur explain way bro ur word is soo nice its too bad Abit stop production, else it would be our best budget choice.. am i rite?? even i nvr use it, but seem heard a lot of its positive support word since im here.. well, sir, if u dun mind do a small top up, BIOSTAR ta790gx 128M should be nice match with the 7750BE, IMO laaa but gotto do some trade off if getting 128M (GC primary slot at bottom, CMOS jumper will get block IINM, else it is a nice board thou ) I would love to get the 970GX/FX but really I have no point in doing extreme numbers anymore QUOTE(tictac @ Apr 30 2009, 10:13 AM) Now running on AMD Turion X2 2.2GHz AMD 780G with ATI3450 512MB DDR2 Sideport memory Memory DDR2 800 6-6-6-15 tictac bro....still alive and kickin i see....Last we 'discussed' i think is the MSI K8 customed Bios...

QUOTE(cdlim87 @ Apr 30 2009, 08:38 AM) welcome sir! i would say board with ACC will help ur phenom architecture chip OC futher... which mean only board come with SB710 and SB750 support ACC feature.. hope this help. I'm currently finding information regarding every 780G boards that are in the LYP shops pricelist....Most of the 780G boards only comes with Sb700 and not the Sb750.... The 790 would be a nicer options but I only use one Gfx and if the board comes with 2 slots, then its kinda waste QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Apr 30 2009, 09:15 AM) 780g will definitely limit ya oc sir, from d 3, only ecs board come w/ sb750, which has an edge over others as acc does help in bringin d best outta some chips. spec wise it's d best too as it's d only board offers esata. however, bios could be d weak point of it since bro casperito mentioned that there are voltage limitations, which is important for mid~heavy oc. at d end of d day, budget & how u gonna use d board will influence ya decision on which board u'll get. asus would be d most expensive one i guess. tough call if i were to choose one, gigabyte would be d least favorite, ecs has gud specs but bios mite be an issue, asus is better in bios but w/ sb700 only. i believe none of 'em are suitable for heavy oc (chipset limitation). biostar 790gx series (be it matx or atx) would be a better choice if budget is allowed. i think that's d max one can spend on a board (any higher end board will seriously overkill) for a 7750 chip unless u plan to upgrade d chip at later stage. my 2 cents only sir... ape dah jadi bro... my dk never have problem but yas... Yap...I was also eyeing for the ECS but now you've mentioned it, I'm afraid I have to pass the ECS as the Bios isn't really what you call 'exciting'... I'm not really sure right now which to get, but I will try to find information regarding the 780G boards that are available locally and check back to this thread until tommorow evening......

QUOTE(cdlim87 @ May 1 2009, 03:29 AM) yeah, consider a bit waste if come with dual slot but use 1 or not use it both.. but, with on board graphic will limit out OC.. so for a OC propose, normally we dun care bout the GC slot(790FX even can do 4xCF:D) but ppl need its chipset to acheive a better clock so, its still depend on urself sir.. see which route will u go aft this.. Today I've already bought the 7750+ BE with a combo of Biostar TA790GX 128M and Kingston HyperX 800 CL4....right now already damn tired to assemble even a Lego.... Mebbe tomorrow will start the build and firing it up....

After two days of purchase, I finally have the time to open up and setup my newly X2 7750+ BE...after a loooonggg memory tweaking, the setup finally ran at DDR800 with 4-4-4 timings... Still no photoshop or other softwares except for drivers only....I'm still downloading all the latest drivers, bios, updates and after that will create an image before installing Photoshop.... BTW I'm running XP Pro

After waking up I found out that the Ethernet Gigabit is not working hence I can access my internet via cable... The network status keeps on trying to identify and get IP from the router...and the orange light at the port (port got 2 lights one green one orange for activity status) didn't light up... Hopefully it is not a hardware issue because the rundown to LYP its just so hassle for just a board replacement... Will try to reset everything and if cannot, tomorrow send the Board for 1 to 1....hope shop got stock for the model... This post has been edited by antonio: May 4 2009, 01:37 PM

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ May 4 2009, 11:51 PM) bro, am3 chips can run on ddr2 boards but am2+ chips can't run on am3 boards. yup, but that's not d reason why i choose dfi. i really missed d infinity series by dfi, great oc potential + value for money. remember d nf2 ultra infinity... You mean this era??? [DFI NF4 = 444HTT]Btw that was then, today I completed 8 hours of Orthos to test the CPU at 2800mhz....Yes I know its nothing much, but I just had to do it in order to ensure everything is fine before taking it to the next level...btw the timings for the ram was 4-4-4-15@800mhz 2.1v during test...

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ May 5 2009, 02:18 PM) those kinda message usually caused by cpu instability. try acc @ +4%, ht link width @ 16 usually works for me. avoid half multi, ram tend to run @ lower freq even cpu-z showin d "supposedly" correct freq. u can try this usin same timin & volt w/ even multi. Right on.....be right back...
