i previously did jailbroken my iphone 3G on fw 3.0.1...
but after one day playing with it i updated to 3.1 fw already so not sure whether i got uploaded the ECID and SHSH to saurik server or not...

is the process done automatically after u jailbroken ur devise or nid to do it manually?

u need to confirm by pressing d "make my life easier..." there is no automatic...
urs is 3g y need to downgrade? 3g support jb now...

Just got my Maxis 3G[S] out of the box firmware 3.0.

Question is, will it be safe for me to jailbreak it with redsn0w on 3.0.1 or does it apply to all 3.* firmware? Should I just leave it untouched until dev team work out on something?

Is maxis's iphone factory unlocked? Means it will last forever regardless of how i screw up?

at the moment there is no solution to jb or unlocked iphone 3GS on firmware 3.1. u should just wait until dev team come out with the jb and unlocked solution.

It seems like lots of 'new' people here don't read the first page. There's lots and lots of info that answers the questions being ask repeatedly.

I've also seen other forumers trying to help others (good thing) but sometime their facts are a bit "misleading". This will create confusion among "new" users where they normally come here for a hit and run type of questions.

For iPhone 2G, there's no need for an unlock as there is no baseband update. Unlock only necessary if there's a baseband update which Apple already "abandoned" for iPhone 2G. You only need to jailbreak by using PwnageTool (for mac) at this moment or use Redsn0w (for mac and win) when Dev Team release it. The reason why iPhone 2G will always need to be jailbreak? Because iPhone 2G need to be 'Hacktivated". If not, you will not get pass the "emergency call only" page but still can see the network.

If the phone (iPhone 3G or 3Gs) is officially unlock, it does not matter if you upgrade or restore as the phone will always be unlock. For lock phones, always use PwangeTool as a safety precaution, NEVER gatal tangan to upgrade thru iTunes.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS read the Dev Team blog or here before upgrading or you have trigger finger when iTunes prompt an upgrade to the iPhone OS. If you did not listen, then it's your own fault if you can't use the phone.

One more thing,
Those ECID and SHSH are only for iPhone 3Gs. If yours is iPhone 3G then do not fret. This is because iPhone 3Gs have an encryption chip built in that prevent any downgrade of firmware.

p/s - There's a way to downgrade from 3.1 back to 3.0.X but I already forgot where.

The only way to downgrade 3GS back to 3.1 IF.. AGAIN, IF you did backup your ECID certificate via to Cydia before... IF you did not do so... No way for you to did the restore at the moment.. And just SAY GOODBYE to jailbreak..

Izzit? Then those people with trigger happy finger are totally screwed .... at this moment la.

Yes.. you are right... Apple very smart now... purposely took away the 3.0 sign so that you have no way restore back to 3.0.. If you are able to restore to 3.0... You will lost your Ultrasnow unlock also.. As, the modem firmware/baseband is still in 3.1.. So do u think that this is a sign of end of JB world?
