Just a couple of pointers and things I experienced..

1. At first trying to install ultarsn0w from cydia.. it didn't really work. Rebooted once or twice then my Maxis sim is recognised.
2. May not be able to receive calls at first.. but after it awhile.. it works again.

If it misbehaves I'll re-report on this thread.


To get it..

And then click on the Windows icon to download

Disclaimer : if you fubared your phone i'm not responsible.. blah blah blah.. lol..

Step by Step Instructions (my set is a US locked set btw)
1. Go to purplera1n.com and click on the windows icon there to download.
2. Connect your iPhone 3GS to the PC (Mine is an XP 32 bit service pack 3)
3. Just double click and run the windows application, and you will get a button called "Make it ra1n"
4. Click on that button and wait. It will reboot your phone.
5. Check on your phone, you will see an application there called "Freeze" on the next page.
6. Run the Freeze application, and you will have a button below that says Download Cydia.
7. Run Cydia, it'll probably prompt you to upgrade some components. I upgraded mine..(2 essential components) - reload Cydia.
7. At this point you're already jailbroken, so in Cydia, add the ultrasn0w repository at repo666.ultrasn0w.com
8. Your cydia will load the sources, search for the 'ultrasn0w' item and install it.
9. Reboot your phone. Put in your SIM. Wait for it to work.. if it doesn't... reinstall ultrasn0w again from Cydia (Like I did) - reboot
10. Wait for it....and test it out after that. Make outgoing and incoming calls to your iPhone 3GS

Thanks for the hilited possible root caused for the supa dupa fast battery drained.
It was the push notification. It bcome normal back after i put it to manual mode.

hi peeps, i am in the process of JBing my iphone 3g official unlock to 3.0 as we speak right now, but now i am confused to whether or not i should check the enable baseband update box or not? i dnt wna mess with the basebands...no? any help is appreciated!!

just to share guys, for 2g phones that upgrade to 3.0 , it seems that in Settings it doesnt show Notifications.

I had to install an application such as Tap Tap Revenge 2 to get the Notifications tab shown.

anyone having the battery drain issue,warm phone, or hot while charging can try this. seems to work so far for me.

Note: this Notifications is different from the Push Mail settings under Mails,Contacts,Calendars.

Once u installed Tap Tap Revenge 2 then u shud get a new tab under Settings called Notifications with a red dot as the icon.

Hi, i need help..i have been updated to OS3.0, wanna try send mms via my iphone.but oledi read all the info, i found out there is no a small camera icon in MESSAGE.My iphone is carrier 4.0 n celcom user.So how ya???

Jb official unlocked 3gs yesterday. Works fine except for WB

is ur phone have a brand in it ? like vodafone , telstra or MAXIS or Celcom? if yes u cant use MMS even u have unlock to run 3G sims.

it is MAXIS unit..but i using it by celcom
