using openssh, make sure
a. openssh is on in ur phone...can check under sbsettings
b. u hv installed afc if u r on rc1
c. the ip add, username, pass is correct on winscp

I think i might have bricked my 3GS any chance to send to any recommended shop to bring it alive ?

i saw a shop in lowyat yesterday with a a4 paper on the counter. Unlock/jailbreak/unbreak iphone. I think is at lv 2. Go check it out hope this helps

For those with the newest 3GS model, where ur seriel number, 4th and 5th digit are 41 and above, means u have the new bootrom thingy, which means is the so-called tethered jailbreak.

so when u reboot or shutdown or installed app that requires rebooting, u will go into recovery mode and can't do anything but dun panic. Just execute the blackra1n again and make it rain, it will reboot it back as before. So while u are outside, dun simply install app that reboots or turn off ur iPhone.

Another problem is that, sometimes can become No Service and cannot do anything. To steps to solve it is to take out ur sim card and insert back while ur iPhone is still turned on. This is for the case if u are outside and don't have computer. So must always bring a pin around. If you have computer with you, u can shutdown it down, then blackra1n boot it up and can get ur network already..

Hope this helps, anyone got any fix or solution, please share ya. I read in some post saying turn off and on the 3G, Edge or Airplane mode, but all no use

Need to check your experts on this:

How sure is this information is correct that the serial number of 4th and 5th are 41 mean that it has the new bootrom?
Some serial number starts with 5 digits and some with 6 digit all together.
I presume serial number with 8xx37 means that it does not have the new bootrom.

Is PwnageTool 3.1.4 safe to use to jailbreak for those with Maxis iPhone 3gs sets?
The above Pwnage tool is mean for official firmware 3.1.2? Anybody tried it yet?

To check iPhone 3G/3GS bootrom version:

Put your iphone in DFU mode.
(Connect your iPhone to iTunes, turn off, click power+home button for 10 seconds, leave POWER button after 10 seconds, holding HOME button)

iTunes will detect your iPhone in recovery mode.

Go To:

Start->Control Panel->Device Manager

In Universal Serial BUS Controller, you will find Apple Mobile Device USB Driver

Right Click and go to Properties, go to Details tab and select "Device Instance Path" from the drop down list box.

In that information, u will find [iBoot-359.x] at the end.

On a mac, just put your iphone into recovery mode (Turn off completely while NOT connected to the computer, exit itunes, hold down the home button while plugging in your phone into iTunes and it should read "iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").... once you're in recovery mode you can go to your Mac HD> Applications> Utilities> System Profiler. You should see your iPhone via USB connection. Click on it and it should have all the info there... you can use Command+Shift+4 to take an onscreen shot and save all the info as a picture file- that's what I did.

i tried to jb my 3gs today using blackra1n rc3...got all the expected screens....geohot picture and all...until it finished. In the end, the blackra1in icon wasn't in the iphone.

ok so i thought...tried it again, same process, same confirmation screens...and again, same results...no icon. my firmware 3.0.1 and it's an officially unlocked set.

fed up with blackrain, fortunately didn't cause any 'damage' like ur case. So i went back to redsnow (+ firmware for 3.0) and it did the job beautifully (cos i did it the last time with my 3g).

now both my 3g and 3gs using 3.0.1 jb courtesy of redsnow.

will do more research b4 going to 3.1.2, not taking the risk yet although both sets are officially unlocked sets.

Hi All,

Does anybody know how to downgrade iPhone 2G to 3.0.x or 3.1 software? My friend accidentally upgrade his 2G to 3.1.2, and now having problem, his phone can make and receive call,but it wouldn't go into spring board, shows only Emergency Call.

erm. new in this kinda thing. so just wanna clarify something.. i read on the first page that this blackrain's for iPhone 3GS with BB of 05.11.07... so question is its for FW3.1 or 3.1.2. i am confused after reading..
