mine can, cuz mine is batch 0904...

but subsequent batches (0906, 0907, 0909 and so on), all tested cannot liao...

oh june ah... by then i think there's Phenom II x2 already...

well, if it's next year, u can try their Athlon II x4... budget quad core from AMD... basically it's a Phenom II x4 without the shared L3 cache...

x3 is 1 core disabled rit

x2 is 2 cores disabled lor...

that is if u think x3 is too expensive, u can consider x2...

well, if i look at history, the Phenom I once had problem, and needed to shut the L3 cache of 2MB to prevent data corruption... reports say that the CPU suffer a 15% hit in performance in extreme cases...

it's gonna hurt in games, cuz games love cache...

so it's either a Athlon II x4 or Phenom II x2 to choose in ur case... i would choose Phenom II x2 though, higher clock + the full 6MB L3 cache...

i would say is to disable the defective core...

see, not all quad core produced are perfect... instead of throwing them away, AMD juz disable the imperfect part, and sell it as a lower grade CPU, ie x3 and x2...

well, there are reprts of

1) Phenom II x3 become x4, tested and proven
2) Phenom II x4 800 series become 900 series (from 4MB cache become 6MB cache)
3) Athlon 7750 become a Phenom I, rumours still, but there are photos..

man i love AMD, always giving out extra stuff...

i would say for gamers, Phenom II is better than Athlon II, mainly due to the cache diffference...

however, since both are not released yet, it's still hard to say...
