both maxis & celcom prepaid dont have plan that u want (data + voice/sms).

maxis/hotlink once u reach quota u'll be charged.
celcom prepaid data is rm18/week (no monthly plan). in the end 1 month u need to pay rm72 (rm18x4).

my recommend is celcom postpaid; Celcom First Data + Voice.
call & text will be charged PAYU.
no extra charge after finished quota.

Added on August 6, 2012, 5:02 amoh if u just want to use the internet without voice/sms function, then u can just use broadband simcard smile.gif

Planning to sign a contract with Maxis. My dilemma is which postpaid are best for users like me with the following:

1. company gives an incentive of RM50/mth for mobile topup but I use roughly RM60~70 each month.

2. I'm currently using SE K810i (I know, I'm a relic) so i've not tried using any internet/data plans before. so i don't know how my much difference my mobile usage will increase or decrease(i suspect that having an internet plan will greatly lower the amount of charges i use for sms and also decrease abit for calls due to whatsapp/skype/line/viber/tango). my question is, is it worth getting 1gig plan instead of 500mb plan? I suspect i can't even reach quota if i'm surrounded by wifi day and night. its only when on the go i'll face difficulties if there's no free wifi signal around.

3. I'm planning to get SGS3, is it possible to bundle it withthe newest postpaid plan ? if not is it still worth getting the phone without plans from sellers and then get postpaid plans from maxis?

4.with android capability to cap/warn users of data usage limits, safe to say there'll be no problems exceeding the data limits?

5. how easy is making payments for postpaid bills? can i do it via online banking?

bottomline is that i have a friend who's using a smartphone but did not signup for an internet/data plan becoz he justifies that day time workplace has wifi and night time there's unifi internet (which is my current situation too). I'm still deciding whether or not should i take data plans. maybe you all can help me out with this dilemma of mine..

many thanks!! notworthy.gif

1. definately maxis talk48 is the best postpaid service for now for talk&sms around rm60-70/month.

2. if u surrounded by wifi then maxis data 100mb rm18 is enough brows.gif

3. sgs3 is not yet bundled with maxis talk48. maybe later. if u really use the phone with data plan, worth to get it from telco bundle. if not, can just buy outside and pay data plan.

example here if u buy outside and take 100mb rm18, after 24months ur data cost only rm432.
while if take bundle with maxis, lowest data is 1gb rm48, after 24 months ur data cost rm1152.
take bundle then data is rm720 extra but phone price get less rm600.
so its up2u.

4. use apps such as data usage from sigterm that have function to set monthly quota and auto-disable internet once each the quota cool2.gif

5. the easiest way for postpaid payment is via direct debit using credit card. yes can do via online banking too and also from the postpaid account manager portal using credit/debit visa/mastercard.

I am going overseas for 1 year starting Sept.

How can I keep my current number alive at the lowest cost?
I don't plan to use my number overseas, but I will keep it switched on just in case.

Currently I am on Celcom i68 plan.

Any suggestion?

i68 contract remaining how many months?

if, less than 7 months, continue to pay rm68/month. after dat convert to xpax.

if, more than 7 months, convert to xpax and pay penalty rm500, instead of paying rm68/month.

thats the cost to keep the number sweat.gif

contract already finish.

so, just convert to xpax?

when I am overseas, how much do I need to topup every month so that the number will still active? or the credit balance is valid for 1 year?

lol, I haven't used prepaid for years now...

Edit: Ok, got it.
RM30 for 1 year, RM50 for 2 years

if, u purchase device from maxis together with data bundle, then, yes got contract. only after contract can cancel, or pay the penalty.

Added on August 9, 2012, 1:23 amno problem to upgrade while on contract, but u cant downgrade.

example contract value 50 + 1gb rm48, u can upgrade to value 50 + 3gb rm68, or upgrade value 80 + 1gb.
but u cant downgrade to value first (30) or 500mb rm38 or 100mb rm18.

I just remember, Celcom does not allow postpaid subscriber to convert into prepaid.
The only thing that I can do is to convert to Maxis/Digi first, and then convert back to Celcom prepaid.

What about Hotlink or Digi? Do they offer 1 year credit validity?

thans erry for the clear up~ since i've never had data plans before coz of using dumbphone, i don't know how would my data usage will turn out to be. I think it's better if i get a phone separately and then sign a postpaid with a minimum data plan 1st...that should be the way for now~..but the phones bundle plan are very enticing especially the knocked down prices of the phones.... laugh.gif ....anyway bro...thanks again for the clear up~

peeps,

previously I mentioned about choosing either maxis internet value plan 50 or umobile u58 but I just found out about celcom first voice prime package. Monthly commitment is only RM40 and by adding RM38 I can get 1gb of data. Problem with the other 2 lines is there is only 5 hours free calls brw supp line in umobile while for maxis no supp line is allowed under the IVP. I would need 2 lines as my gf is also a heavy data user. For celcom the supp user can pay 38 for the 1gb data too. Besides that there is 2400 mins of free calls. I talked about 1 hour/day with my gf which comes up to abt 1800 mins.

If I were to go with umobile or maxis, other than the monthly commitment I have to forkout about 200+ extra. What do u guys think? any other suggetions?

Hi folks,

Am planning to upgrade my phone to Samsung S3 soon.
My call and SMS usage is currently light.
I currently have Maxis Value Plus RM50 with no data plan.

What plan do you you guys recommend if I move on to Samsung S3?
I doubt my internet usage will exceed 1.5gB

Thanks

its depend on what you will use in your smartphone..

Light call / SMS , which means ..?? how many SMSes, how many minutes calls roughly ..?

I suggest -

user posted image
if you just send 20 SMS/month , and roughly call 10 minutes per month..

you need to pay RM 50 + [20 SMS X RM 0.15] + [10 minutes X RM 0.20] = RM 55/month only

do notice that, I use the rate 'Maxis to other operators' , if you SMS and calls to Maxis numbers, it will be cheaper, as stated in the picture
and if your friend/family/contact has Whatsapp, don't need to send SMS.. just use data available nod.gif nod.gif
Whatsapp will consume less than 50MB per month, unless you heavy texting + sending audio + sending picture..

I still suggest that Maxis plan because NO Contract will be applied ,

do note that celcom supp line call rate is 20sen/min.

u as principal = 40+38 = 78
ur supp= 15+38 = 53
total minimum/month = rm131

another option are:

A. celcom i68 plan (iphone plan) for both of u.

it comes with free call of 3000 minutes to celcom & 50 mins to other.
also free 100 sms & 10 mms to all network.
free data 800mb only (less 200mb than 38) but same no xtra charges after quota.
after the free bundle, the charge is 15sen/min & 10sen/sms.

total minimum/month = rm136
(both of u can call out to celcom almost free + 50 mins to other network)

B. idigi 88 plan (also iphone plan) + digi smart family 28.

i88 will be only rm60/month.
free 200 minutes & 200 sms to all network.
free 1gb data and no xtra charges after quota.

but for supp, only free 300mb/month. no xtra charges after quota.
call&sms is PAYU, 15sen/min & 10sen/s ms.

u & ur supp will get each 40hours (2400 minutes) free call to each other.
also each get free 3000 sms to each other.

total minimum/month = 60 + 28 = rm88

Added on August 10, 2012, 3:15 ampls take note:
1. u MUST buy iphone 4s to get those plan ~ sweat.gif
2. celcom have 12 & 24 months contract, while digi is 24 months ~
3. min/month is exclude 6% govt tax laugh.gif
