What happens when reach quota? I know Maxis will charge. So Maxis is very likely out of consideration.

How about other networks? They will limit the bandwidth after i reach the quota right? But how slow would it be when they limit it. Is it slower than 512kb? I'm using Streamyx 512 kb now.

QUOTE(kae7 @ Jul 23 2012, 11:17 PM)
unlimited is impossible for Maxis normal package.. smile.gif

others like Umbile, Digi, Celcom also cannot fulfil your requirement .. they do have quota 1GB, 3GB, 5GB, 6GB, etc..

wow, that is bad.

Umobile looks interesting. I'll check out the Umobile thread and see if there's any user experience feedback on the cap.

that is normal smile.gif

anyway...

Streamyx is still the best , for offering the unlimited internet bandwith/quota + stable..[the speed isn't the issue as 512kbps is still fast for normal browsing, youtube 240p/360p, downloading [up to 65kB/s]

anyway, I still remember that I was offered to upgrade my Streamyx from 512kbps to 1Mbps and pay only RM 71/month .. biggrin.gif , the upgrade is free.. but of course need to pay RM 5 higher per month.. [i think this is applicable for those who had subscribed Streamyx for more than 2 years]

I'm happy using Streamyx, at least no quota.. biggrin.gif

It's true, the Streamyx no quota is hard to beat. My package is RM66. I'm using about 13GB of data a month. But if I add on the fixed line monthly fee etc, my monthly bill is about RM96. So, in reality I am paying about RM96 for a 512kbps bandwidth with unlimited data. This is before including my RM30 monthly top up for my Hotlink. So I'm looking at option to cut down on my total internet + phone bill.

go for Prepaid , you just has minimal usage.

Prepaid -->

Umobile BIS Unlimited, RM 34 for 2 month
- cheap, has many rebate...

Hotlink BIS Bonus, RM 20 per month
- better 3G coverage, faster and more stable [Maxis]

Guys,

Need some suggestions here. Currently on Digi Smart Plan 68 expiring in about a week's time. I have ady decided to port out from digi, coverage & their 3G is too much to bear with.

Thinking about Umobile U58 postpaid or Maxis Internet value 50. I have another prepaid line for work purposes, so this line is mainly for light surfing on the go and some occasional calls + smses. Would love to hear what you guys have in mind.

Thanks in advance.

how much is your data usage for a month ..?

for me , light surfing is around 500MB , is 500MB is sufficient for you..??
if yes, Maxis IVP 50 is suitable + you won't exceeded the quota [1.5GB]

for example:
my usage
whatsapp = roughly 50MB per month [really big data usage for me]
light surfing = fb.com , google , etc.. 450MB
a-gps = 2MB
total is 502MB, sufficient for me... plus,.. I can use more..

Umobile isn't recommended , not stable data connection , better go for Maxis [a bit expensive but worth for you]

@kae

Thanks for reminding. I think I'm using less than 2GB per month. With the current quota of 3GB from Digi, I have never exceeded at all.

What do u mean by unstable data connection?

Many of my friends that use maxis alredy changed to other telcos. Maxis too many hidden charges.
Im planning to use umobile as people told me, its the fastest and cheapest telco in klang valley.
Even when the coverage is out and has to opt for celcom 2g, at least the connection still there.

almost 11 yrs using Maxis, no hidden charges at all [postpaid and prepaid]

celcom 2G -> EDGE is stable.. but the Umobile 3G itself isn't stable ..

it is fast,, but not stable..

Waaaa like that u call hidden charges? Maxis already stated clearly will charge after exceed the bandwidth. They exceed their limit maxis charge kaw kaw is normal.

A lot of ppl I know kiasu take the cheapest plan then exceed blame the telco. If they make mistake bare the responsible do you know why maxis do not hav capped limit and pay alittle higher than other telco?

You are paying for premium speed at HSDPA area the speed can reach up to 7.2mbps and above. Other telco you pay cheap and the speed is very slow.

Because they can't beat the best they need lower their plan or give better offer that simple

that is not hidden charges doh.gif doh.gif .. you pay for what you subscribed.. if you subscribed 100MB data plan . and then use up to 500MB data.. you can't say the charge that incurred is hidden, LOL..

you need to pay for what u use..

again , I need stable connection and at the same time fast connection too.. Umobile is still lack of stability and speed[at some places] ..

i never use maxis, like ive said before, that's what claimed by my friends.
i never signed any agreement with maxis and never read the terms and such.

ouh another thing about maxis is they sometimes up your usage limit without telling you beforehand - such as you capped your rm till rm200, if you go beyond that maxis should have barred your line. but few times they received bills more than the limit.

only stated my opinion, if you insist using other telcos, suite yourself.
i dont work for any telcos.

Listening rumours is alright but do not share misleading information to cause confusion to others. Then if you are really helping find out why are the bills overcharge beyond their limit so we can understand. Listen both side of the story not one sided.

It could be charge by international roaming like my dad celcom he went singapore and accidentally access data he got bill of RM980. Maxis is not the only telco having this issue all telcos are.

Telling what you hear is not an opinion that is call spreading rumours. Opinion is sharing something you experience.

Remember in school about rumours the teacher will tell a story to the first student when it reaches the last student the story is twisted.

Since you are not a maxis subscriber how can spread rumours you dont understand?
I am not insisting i just want understand the entire story.

So can i claim that my friend said he get a free phone from telco just for free?

Hi guys,

need some advice here. I plan to get a new phone and a data plan as well. Mostly looking for light roaming around 2-3 gb will be.. just for email and fb and sometimes for surfing as well. never get a data plan before.. does not know roughly how much will i use...

Should i get a phone then take a plan? or take the phone and plan simultaneously? currently looking at phone like s2 or nexus.. any opinion? currently looking at umobile u58 plan... but kinda worried about the coverage.. digi is also unstable.. maybe because they are doing upgrading.. maxis and celcom is kinda expensive for me.. any recommendation?
