Currently my wife using hup35 but she rarely make a call, only use to fb, YouTube, wechat, and maybe less than 1hour/month call time, think to switch to a faster data plan without unlimited call for her, any other better plan than Hotlink video?

Hi Sifu's

I am planning to get a postpaid line which has Unlimited Internet (anything above 3GB is more than sufficient for me) & Unlimited Voice Calls.

Currently I set my eyes on Hotlink PostPaid 40, are there any other cheaper alternatives under a postpaid plan?

Clueless guy who doesn't understand what hotspot means. Will it affect me if I use a 4g modem for Internet? Do I need unlimited hotspot besides unlimited data.?

Same situation as you here.

From what I gather, even if you use USB teether or hotspot or 4G modem, it'll still activate the hotspot clause. Because some mobile dataplan have unlimited data. However, that's for the phone only.

If you use this dataplan to run your PC broadband, it'll activate the hotspot which has a limited quota of say 6GB monthly depending on the plan.

Not sure if my understanding is correct or not. But I think it is, else everyone will start using mobile data plan as their main broadband.

hotspot quota to be used from smartphone with wi-fi hotspot / usb tethering
some operator block sim card used with usb modem or router. You gotta slow speed or no internet.

Hi guys,

Recently finished Digi Infinite 100 promo of discount RM20 per month.

thinking of either switching to Digi Postpaid 80 or port to others. was a long customer of Maxis but decided to port out to Digi as there are more benefits.

just wondering, Digi Infinite 100 benefits has stated that there is 20GD tethering but not mentioned on any normal digi postpaid plans. Does that means that if i take postpaid 80 and i will still have tethering/hotspot? and the data is used within the 40GB all day internet right?

anyways, my priorities are:
1. calls (coverage is key, so far to me i'm satisfied with Maxis and Digi's coverage and lesser down times, area=Klang Valley/N9/Melaka)
2. unlimited internet at 4G/LTE speeds (my usual monthly usage 20~30GB) for FHD video streaming / video calls.
3. hotspot for tethering to laptop / other devices (emails, work, conference call)

your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi all sifus, I been using Maxis all my life, 1st telco and been loyal since then. But wanted to try Celcom because I am paying Maxis RM50 for only 5GB, nothing else. End up paying about RM70 per month + the additional calls.

Saw Celcom got RM38 with 8GB and unlimited calls. Really want to stop simping for Maxis and try Celcom. Last time Maxis was good for coverage and fast Internet speed. However, lately seems like Celcom is not far behind and is able to complete neck-to-neck with Maxis.

Got kawan-kawan here who ported from Maxis to Celcom? Can share your experience? Good or bad? Regret or happy?

Thanks all for the info sharing.

Already convert to Celcom RM38, happy with it. Don't see much speed different for Internet. But since I get unlimited calls, best la can call and talk without worries.

I went from umobile in 2009-2014 as the internet turns to clown in my area in Ara D'sara.

Then switched to digi (2015-2019), quite reasonable price and offerings. Subscribed to their 80 package and when I wanted to port in to unifi mobile in 2019, they even offered me discounts for one year period. 80 was lowered to RM50 but I only had to pay for RM25 for one year, same package. 40GB. but I had to let go something good. cos its a big turndown when I don't get any signal in the new office toilet! It's in the heart of KL! So had to switch..

Then switched to maxis in early 2020 for their 80gb plan (RM154 something). Calls not stable in my area (Kelana Jaya) and in my house, speed from 70mbps turns to 30mbps, 1 bar signal frequently. Then they had this promo of Maxis 25 but its all marketing scam. I even reported them to MACC

Now currently waiting to port in to Celcom postpaid ~RM150 plan. Their so called Mega unlimited and Mega lightning is just full of crap. Unlimited gives u 15mbps speed whilst "lightning" to justfy their max speed is only 30mbps. Could be lower in real life

Any other telcos

Hi guys, currently I'm on UMobile Hero postpaid 79. Am surveying to add a supplementary line under me. Thing is for UMobile, the supplementary line does not get unlimited calls.

My requirement as of below,
1) Main line and supplementary line need to have free unlimited calls.
2) In terms of Data allocation, around 15gb should be enough, each for main and supplementary line.
3) budget at RM100 - RM120.
4) I do hotspot tether a bit for my Switch, Ipad and laptop. Preferably hotspot can be drawn from main Data pool, not separate pool.

What are my choices?

Umobile Hero postpaid - not feasible, coz supplementary line only free 30 minutes call to Umobile number

Celcom Mega - unlimited calls, 40gb data. RM80 for main line + RM20 for supplementary line (4th months onwards revert to RM40).

Digi postpaid - unlimited calls, 40gb data. RM80 for main line + RM38 for supplementary line.

Maxis postpaid - unlimited calls & sms, 40gb data. RM98 for main + RM48 for supplementary line. Too expensive la Maxis.

I'm looking at Celcom and Digi now, as both offers free unlimited calls for supplementary line. But how does the hotspot works for both? I tried finding for keyword hotspot in Celcom FAQ, they didn mention. Digi does not have FAQ section for hotspot. Any feedback from you guys on how this hotspot works for both Celcom n Digi? They have their own pool or drawn from main Data pool?

Or is there any other Telco that I left out? biggrin.gif

hi. May I know is there any difference in unlimited calls and sms to all networks between Maxis Postpaid and hotlink postpaid (and maybe other telco too)? Since is unlimited , is it really required to go for supplementary line?
I am currently using Postpaid + Supplementary line. Seems like hotlink postpaid is offering better deal (if do not compare data). thanks

Anyone experience using Unifi mobile? How is the coverage? I am currently looking a cheap data plan (do not required Calls and SMS) to replace my current XoX plan.

Recommendations for a data plan to be used for home family usage?

No calls or sms needed, just high limit and able to be tethered through my current Asus DSL modem router if possible. Up to 6 devices shared at home. Thanks.
