I'm a light user in klang valley, was looking at what the best prepaid plan is for me. My usage monthly is roughly

- 1-2GB data. Always on
- 30-50 minutes of calls
- 30-100 SMS

I was on U-Mobile prepaid until last month. Was very happy with the service until recently when their data connection slowed down significantly, mostly getting EDGE only near the KLCC area. They also don't have international roaming.

Started Hotlink prepaid, data is also painfully slow even in the KLCC area. Charges are significantly higher than U-Mobile and they sent a shitload of spam SMS with opt-in shit. Sorry Maxis you just lost a customer.

Any suggestions on what next aside from U-Mobile or Maxis? I want high data speeds (HSDPA 20+ Mbit would be good) in klang valley. Cost is not a problem if speeds and coverage are good but I prefer prepaid.

Hi there,

I'm planning to visit Malaysia, from Canada, and was hoping someone could give me some advice on Mobile phone plans.

I will be staying for 2 months, and may possibly extend my trip, depending on how everything goes.

I'm assuming, since I'm visiting, easiest way to go would be prepaid.

But I need something that has either unlimited or a good amount of data so I can stay connected on my phone (email, whatsapp, etc.)

Maybe also use it to tether my laptop, if the place I stay at, has no internet.

I don't intend to have too many long phone conversations, but I would like to have a decent amount of minutes, as I will be trying to make business contacts, and I don't want to worry about my phone cutting out, while talking to a potential contact because I didn't have enough minutes.

I will have a business partner with me, but am used to communicating with him via sms, so I will probably need that quite a bit (or I can just whatsapp maybe)

Any advice on which plans may work best for me?

Thanks

You can just surf to maxis, digi and or celcom website to know about their plan.

Any data plan to recommend to me? My usage is as below. Currently on DiGi Smart Plan 68 3GB and DiGi Family Plan 28. Principal data usage can be reduced (use wifi) if plan has lower quota...

Thinking of UMI28, but prepaid has no bills for income tax broadband tax relief, right?

Hi guys, I plan to go for digi smart plan 58 (EPP) to get sony xperia z. But the problem is, I only have citibank credit card, which I could not purchase it online(digi online only accepts maybank credit card), and also I dont hv the card with me. Can I just tell them the card number without presenting them my card to purchase at any digi store?

i thought if u use below than monthly commitment u need to pay 28 only. e.g u use rm10, end of month u pay rm28 and if u exceed rm10 end of month u pay rm38..

How you know your call usage only rm16? By checking where? Maybe you used so much call that finish free minutes and that rm16 is the extra above that?

Or you called to non malaysian number that is not counted in the free minutes.

Huh, like that also need ask?

You got charged 6.19 for calls but waived 6.19 (under discounts and rebates).

You got charged 10.32 for SMS but waived 10.17 (most likely your SMS usage just a bit more than 100 SMS)

So correct la, you're getting charged 28+48+0.20 (international SMS) + 0.15 (extra SMS) + 0.20 (downloads/content) = 76.55

Let's say I'm on a 1GB quota for my data + voice postpaid plan. I hit the 1GB and can't go online.

Is it possible to 'buy' another 1GB without upgrading my current plan?

Never say which network you are on also.... And I think all networks don't cut you from going online, just cut speed only.

Celcom. I'm not sure if speed is reduced or completely cut off since my friend can't WhatsApp. But is there such thing to 'buy' an extra GB for only that one time?
