Gotta say, well done to Chelsea for going to the Camp Nou and getting the job done. Like I said in the United thread, it was in a way similar to the gameplan we had when we traveled there. Will Drogba rue his miss as much as Ronaldo's penalty miss? We'll have to wait and see. Still, Guus showed what a tactician he was and the players were very disciplined. Kudos.

Too bad drog din manage to put tat killer chance behind the net... but it's already more than to ask for that we manage to prevent barca from scoring in their sacred ground... We manage to break that jinx and now, there's more reason for us to look forward as we welcome them to Fulham road~ XD

If you had videos of both games and put them side by side one would realise that Man Utd's gameplan was very different to Chelsea's one and was actually flawed to begin with. Chelsea had a much better shape about them and pressured further up the pitch. The difference was last season's Barca's team were inept and impotent whereas I thought this time against Chelsea they played as well as they could.

I still don't see this tie as advantage Chelsea. If I were a Chelsea fan I would be abit disappointed with the tacitcs used yesterday as they gave relatively no chance for themselves to get an away goal (which is crucial in these European games). Now they go to Stamford Bridge and they surely must try and score which would mean that Barca will get more space to operate. If Barca just score just once I'm afraid it would be a tough hill to climb.

looking the possession stats, and how we played last night, i dont think we have a chance at all. maybe mikel should be switched to kalou or anelka when they come to the bridge. thus, having more attacking players. unless we want to take it to penalties. lol.

Well piece of defending from Chelsea, Barca had a few chances and didn't manage to pass fluently, Bosingwa still able to mark Messi tight although there is a chance for him to slip through.

Possession for Barca is scary, whole match 70%, last season Man Utd used the similar tactic, but not as defensive as yours, because Barca is totally different under Guardiola, a more balance team compare to last year

looking forward for next game, Hiddink must approach a counter attack or attack strategy, sit back and drag the game to penalty shoot out is a gamble

An early goal on next leg should do good. Deploying the defense we had today, it should be sufficient to see us qualify for final.

yep barca seem to be a more fluent and free scoring side this season. last year i don't recall them hammering as many teams as they've done this time around. indeed its still anyone's tie and an away goal for us would've come in handy. but we didn't get it.. so as a result i'm really looking forward to that favour this weekend tongue.gif . their biggest match of the season couldn't have come at a better time.

wow, surpised to know that this whole season, barca failed to score on their home ground.. that's a good news for Chelsea, managed to shackle them completely..

but still Messi is still a mess... his forward runs are scary, and his dribbles really gave Bosingwa hard time dealing with.
More and more attempts like that, Messi sure can break through.
but the point is that Bosingwa shackled him preventing to have a ball possession, I too was surprised seeing how quiet Messi was last nite.

Oh well, lets hope our players keep themselves fit for our next fixture.

Maybe it's really the time to give our youngsters some game-time for our next tie, coz seriously... FA Cup n CL is far far far more important than our dog fight in EPL...(sad but true, I think we could see the EPL winner will not be us anyways)

memang real pun. its an old picture smile.gif
yeah was a bit disappointed he got taken off. but u could see he was frustrated by the lack of space..he needs to be on form for the return leg.
btw aw13, i don't think he got subbed out for card trouble..he did lunge at iniesta but wasn't booked. i believe the only ones who got carded were ballack and alex?

Oh is it? I thought we had more than 2 YCs, given that so many Barca players were falling all over the place. laugh.gif

Ah just confirmed that indeed Alex and Ballack were given yellows, as well as Yaya and Puyol for Barcelona. Thanks for that kerplunk.

ballack need to be more careful next time.. we need him for final..
and lamps. he maybe tired of all the games that being played closed to another. lack of concentration leads to unwanted fouls and the amount of YC.RC given. maybe GH saw it and quickly he took him off the pitch to prevent further fouls. and of course, he need lamps for the 2nd leg of the match
