Before you're selling off your RM4499 FW, ask yourself this,

are you willing to fork out RM7,999 for the Vaio F?

Good for you. Just dont do anything stupid with your laptop then.

QUOTE(jasmine_09 @ Jan 5 2010, 06:55 PM)
Haha. Okay. But, may I know what's that for? When do we have to use it?
Wow. Is it okay if we don't create the disc?
*
Recovery discs is used when you suffers system instability, etc and you want to return your laptop to the original factory condition (the condition when you've just bought your laptop). In simple terms, it is a kind of "REFORMAT PC".

Its OK if you didn't create the disc. But when problem occurs in the future and your model have been phased out, you'll have to send it to the service center and wait for XX days just to perform System Recovery. With the disc, you an perform the system recovery by yourself and it only takes about 3-4 hours.

I haven't really start using it since I haven't create recovery disc, afraid something bad might happen to it  tongue.gif

Are any DVDs will do to create the recovery disc?

What model are you using right now? How's your Vaio treating you?  biggrin.gif
*
Any DVD-R will do. Dont put DVD-RW. It'll reject it. It wont burn.

QUOTE(DalphinuS @ Jan 5 2010, 10:32 PM)
I created the recovery discs using 2 DVDr.

It's ok to use ur lappy right away, as I heard the recovery data are stored in the HDD inside.
Pls correct me if I'm wrong~~
*
Yes, the recovery data is stored in the HDD.

QUOTE(jasmine_09 @ Jan 8 2010, 03:59 PM)
I've bought DVD-R, planning to create the recovery disc. However, because I did not create the recovery disc immediately after I brought it home, I would like to restore everything back to it's original condition, like how the Sony Style give it to me before creating the recovery disc. Do you guys have any idea on how to restore it back? rclxub.gif

Another thing, I've attached 2 pictures. As you can see, the desktop of the show units in Sony Style/Centre are as the attachment2. However sometimes, my desktop showed as attachment1. I've circled the difference between attachment 1 and attachment 2. Do you guys have any idea why is it like that?

Oh, by the way, is it okay for my one-week old laptop to produce some soft sound (but you'll be able to hear it) when your laptop is switched on? It's like "z z z" sound.

Okay, that's all for now. I'm sorry to trouble you guys with so many questions but I'm such a noobie when it comes to computing stuff. Ha ha. thanks for answering my question in advance!  biggrin.gif
*
No need to perform system recovery before creating recovery disc. Recovery disc isn't back up disc. Recovery disc contains only information valuable for reinstalling the default OEM Windows and Vaio drivers. All your current datas not related for recovery will not be burned into the DVD-R.

The sound comes from the top left or bottom right?
and which model you bought? Izzit the CW1x model?

The Cw is a relatively new product, so expect only minor changes such as the Core2Duo to i3 (CW25) and i5 (CW26)

Highly unlikely.

QUOTE(caspersky @ Jan 16 2010, 10:50 AM)
Is it? Where do you find the current price? Is it for CW16? SonyStyle still has the RM3999 for CW16.

Sonystyle KLCC and BTS.

Hey guys. anyone currently has an Vaio X laptop?

Want to ask how's the performance, will it lag if play games such as warcraft? or using applications other than basic microsoft office? such as photoshop etc.. and also watching movie etc..

Hope any owner of Vaio X can shed some light on this..

Appreciate your reply  biggrin.gif
*
Yes, it'll lag when playing Warcraft (tried and proven)

movie...depend on which. However, I also experience lag for a DVD Rip movie. sleep.gif

Its only for those who doesn't multitask and owns a lappy only for office use and internet surfing. businessman's toy.

How about the NW 25 GF? Should we expect an update soon?

Was told the CW will revert to it's usual price of 4499 when it's updated.
*
Which specific CW you're talking about?
There are 3 in the market currently, namely the CW15, CW16 and CW18.

Not too sure, asked bout when the CW16 would be updated since it's gonna be obsolete soon and what specs improvement to expect. Was told it should be March the earliest, specs would be most likely I3 processor and it would revert to 4499 price. Maybe someone else has more info?
*
March is simply too late.

CW25 (CW15 replacement) = i3 processor + nVidia GF 310M RM 3,299
CW26 (CW16 replacement) = i5 processor + nVidia GF 330M + 500GB HDD + WXGA++ (1600 x 900) Vaio Display Premium Plus RM 3,999
CW28 (CW18 replacement) = i5 processor + BluRay disc drive + WXGA++ (1600 x 900) Vaio Display RM 4,999

The one quoting you RM4,499 obviously wanna frighten you so that he could clear his inventory as fast as possible. smile.gif

QUOTE(caspersky @ Jan 17 2010, 03:54 PM)
So is it reasonable to assume that the current price for CW16 (RM3699) will continue until March?
*
It is safer to assume that the current price for CW16 will continue till while stock last.

----
The next Vaio P is still using Atom Z, but not the Z550. Its using the Z540 (1.86Ghz).

You have every reason not to believe it since its only rumors and I didn't put any links for it. I don't mind at all.

The rumor shall be real only on the launch day of Vaio CW 2x. Lets be patient and look out for the outcome of it.

Sorry to interrupt here, a fren of mine who is a CS owner, her lappy juz kaput (can turn on) after 2 weeks expiry of the warranty period, anyway can she ask for assist?

I heard SONY offer 3months extended warranty for CS owner, is that true?

She been sent in her lappy in the past 1 yr for more than 3 times, and her lappy still not running in proper condition.

Appreciate the helps~
*
Hmm... so unlucky. sad.gif

Anyway, does she register her laptop online for the extended 3 months warranty?
Sony does offer additional 3 months warranty for free, but one has to do something to get it. One have to register his/her item online within 7 days after purchase.

hello every1~

was thinking to get a vaio CW15 earlier.......any reviews about it? is it advisable to wait for the new CW series?

btw, vaio price is getting cheaper nowadays, does this affect the quality?Bought my CR23 for RM4000++ few years back n only realized now tat vaio is offering more affordable lappies=.=

thanks
*
My advice is, just wait for the replacement model. Its more worth it. You're paying the same price for a much better processor and a newer graphic card (by newer, that doesn't means better in this case).

Hi Guys, wanna ask something..

Last Saturday I went to Lowyat Sony Centre to buy Vaio SR36G..
promo price RM3,299..
too bad the promoter said only SR with "pink" color available...WTF???
they mention no more stock for SR (black/gold) within entire m'sia.. is this true? pls share some info with me..

they try promote to me the CW16 (oni diff is new RAM DDR3)..but not intrested since mindset oni wanna buy SR..

what do you guys think? CW16 or SR36G??? Btw, I use vaio for working purposes & bussiness..
currently using vaio CR22 (old school) happy.gif

PS: At same time saw 1 richie guy bought 3units CW16 (dealing less than 5minutes)  rclxub.gif  while i spend 1/2hour there bargaining with the promoter.. sweat.gif
feeling so binbo..haha  doh.gif
*
I dont think CW16 will suit your 'professional' image with the glossy and fingerprint prone surface. However, if you're really desperate for a laptop, then you may pick this since the SR is only in.... pink... >.<

BTW, is the SR36 a brand new unit or display set? Have to ask properly. happy.gif

QUOTE(y_owez @ Jan 18 2010, 04:36 PM)
previously someone said the price is around 3.9 k. not too sure myself.maybe on sale

weird also right? 2 years warranty? i tot standard was 1 year only?

i dont want it to be fake sony or illegal..cham lo if its stolen or black market one...
*
Yes. Current Vaio SR55 price has been revised to RM3,999. smile.gif
Standard is 1 year warranty.

If its a brand new usnit then something fishy is going on. If it is a used unit, demand for a "SEW certificate" or "SEW receipt"
