Hi all!

Am back and I think I didn't make the target. Didn't watch it well enough in UK, even with doing so much walking and it's the nightly wine drinking.

Doing a weigh-in tomorrow as I usually do it in the morning before breakfast. But doubt it's going to change much. Weighing in at 100kg again so chances are it will just drop 1 kg overnight. 2 weeks ago, I was at 96 kg. Too much rich food and the alcohol.

Next time we do this, I'm going to stick to the original way I did it so that I don't get sidetrack i.e. daily weigh-ins. I'm at a stage where I get distracted so back to daily weigh-ins and the 1 kg drop per week for me.

For those who didn't quite made it through the 30 day fast, it's a good time to do some reflection and some detailed screening of what we did wrong.

Me was lack of exercise and lack of food control. Have put on 3 kg which I now have to lose and more to make up for the extra bits!

1. Ate out too much of not exactly good choices, even if they were roasted. Going to eat home from now on. Starting today with homemade luicha (veggie mix) with a bit of rice mix.

2. More regular exercise. Going to go around shopping for a gym and pick one and see what happens.

3. Go back to daily weigh-ins or intervals of 1-2 days weigh-ins. I need to get obsessive about this so that I freak out and stick to 1. and 2.

For the others, really scrutinize what went wrong and solutions to fix it.

Syd G, when do we want to start the next one? smile.gif Folks may need a week just to rethink and research what they need to change.

how do you guys lost 1kg/week? been going to gym religiously, eating very less but i dont get 1kg/week sad.gif

Depends on how far are you from normal weight range. If it's very far, the weight loss is steady. If it's within the normal weight range for your height, then it's going to be slow.

For muscle gain, you can tell if your body fat % has gone down.

The other thing is the type of food that you eat. Starchy food can turn into sugar and then fat.

About 3 months. Waist from 40" down to 34". Hopefully end of this year can get 31". Then all I need is to maintain, that's all. No need to cut anymore.

I'm quite happy with my current body now, but I want to gain even more muscles and leaner, that's all. I don't plan to become like incredible hulk. Initially yes, but not anymore.

For cha boh, I think most of you all want to be lean, muscles maybe not.

Depends on Syd G I think. She raised the last session.

Else maybe tengster since he put up the post (then again, at my nagging >.>).

Actually, hmmm... how many are interested in the next one?

blink.gif Oh err... input from me? blink.gif

Hmm...my input was earlier i.e. I intend to do daily weigh-ins since that worked for me. Even the weekly weigh-in wouldn't keep me in control, even though my weight drops about a week later. Note that that's just me and that's what works for me. I don't obsess about it like weighing myself 3x a day. Hmm... knowing whether my weight fluctuates up and down just help me to monitor myself more though.

The one thing I do notice is that people get bothered easily when they see other people doing weigh-ins. Not sure why though. It's not a competition but they seem to treat it as such and they get stress when they see people weighing themselves more and groaning. I tend to just ignore it and let people get on their way because at the end of the day, this isn't a competition. It's more of a group of people getting together to motivate one another to get fit.

Hmm....another thing is the cheatmeals. We're having too many. Perhaps it's a good thing to put in a rule that we can only have one cheat meal a week. So many people coming honest about it, including me. Then bang, problem starts. I'd suggest to do cheatmeals at home so that you can control the oil, sugar and portion. Else it gets out of control very easily. One cheatmeal a week and no more than that. One glass of alcohol is a cheatmeal on it's own. Cheatmeals are also to be taken in moderation, not a gourge fest or like you just come out of a desert.

Another rule : anyone who gains weight after the weekly weigh-in, has to come clean on any cheats or slack in exercise regime. That way, we, as a group, can motivate / egg you to stick to your fitness plan.

Another rule : This is going to be a tough one. For those who have BF% as a target, it may be worthwhile to get someone who is able to give tips. It looks like it's not easy to bring down BF% once reaching the target weight. Not sure if anyone wants to come forward to give tips on this. BB.com has information but something, it's either not written well or people are not able to understand what went wrong. I'mnot sure how well-received this rule would be but it seemed like a lot of ppl are having problems meeting target. Or did you guys slack. brows.gif I see a lot of comments that doesn't seem to help ppl at all.

Starting on 1st June : It's ok with me provided that the people who do sign-up don't take the next 2 weeks as a time that you can cheat your heart out to your heart's content.

Holiday : If you are going to be away for more than 2 weeks and know that you can't stick to your diet, then don't sign up. You can follow from the sidelines I guess but it can be hard if you're trying to lose weight and wanting to enjoy some food. Portion control will be tough to follow as well as control of sugar and oil in the food. (BTW tengster, am now down to 97.5kg, about 1.5kg more than when I flew off to UK). Unless you're willing to put up with a lot of noise from everyone here. smile.gif

Getting onto the bandwagon of 30-days challenge : A few of the people who have signed up for the 30-day challenge never came back. Not sure why though. We need to be clear that once ppl sign on, they are on. They will have to put up with pointed comments i.e. you shouldn't have cheated, you should do better, yadda yadda yadda. It's not going to be easy but it doesn't mean that you have to run away and ignore the problem. Facing the truth hurts but we all want to reach a goal. So gotta swallow the ugly truth that we have cheated. The more important thing is getting back on and doing something about it. No wishy-washy or evading the truth : you slack, you will get commented on and comments will hurt. So what? Timeto get rid of that bodyfat and stop wallowing in self-pity or self-righteous-anger.

30 days vs 90 days : We do 30 days. as soon as one finishes, we do the next. We have a quick post-mortem during the last week to rev up to the next 30 days. 90 days may be too long for ppl to contemplate. During the last week, everyone should also start thinking what they have learnt so far and what htey intend to do for the next 30 days.

I need to sleep. Jet lag is bad. TTYL folks.

I'll have to turn down that nomination. Don't have the time to look at a thread. However, I will support Syd G. smile.gif She's a good person to lead this. She will sic you to the bone. wink.gif

metalfreak : cook at home lah. Less calories than outside food. Too many hidden oil, fat, sugar in outside food. Or check out my bento meals. smile.gif

richard : kewl. Hmm....careful of your exams though and make sure u make time to study. tongue.gif

It's just a bunch of people making a commitment to lose weight. And they openly communicate their pledge on the front page.

With IBS, with better diet and improved bowel movement, it would make sense that you are losing more.

Balanced and healthy diets are all the same though, at the end of the day. There may be some changes based on the goals set out (maintenance, weight loss, weight gain, muscle gain, athlete) but only the type of food and the portions may change.

Heh! He's purging because the body could be cleaning him up! LOL!

It's known as the "Healing Crisis" in the homeopathic circles. In Western Medicine, it's the Herxheimer reaction (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herxheimer_reaction).

It usually goes away after awhile, once the toxins are cleared.

There's no winner. We all are, whether we makeit or not.

Those who didn't make it will know where they need to do better.

Those who did, their new body is their reward.

Sounds like me. Scared to get on the scale. But I look in the mirror and persuade myself that I'm not that bad. And I eat.

It took a heart problem to convince me lose weight. And like the PT who is motivating him to lose weight, I have a crowd of cheerleaders too. It's surprisingly easy to find them, tbh. If it's not my family, it's my colleagues.

I now have a colleague at work who is hounding me to goto the company gym. Starting on Monday as today he's on leave.

On a side note, maybe after a few more challenge, maybe we could meet up and do like a little poster video. Just for moral posting and a wee bit of e-peening. flex.gif Or we may end up arguing about which diet / physical habits we should follow. Haha!

Eh? U mean u want to lose more than 20kg while your BF is trying to reach BF < 10%?

zeist : The others posted up their results. Some made their targets. Others nearly. Others didn't. Think tengster didn't update the summary page.

Syd G is starting another thread on 25 May 09.

GL to those on scklm!

On another note, for the next challenge, I think we also need to review the injuries from the last one and what's happening last week as well as this week.

Is it normal to pull a muscle every 2-3 weeks while going to the gym? I see sky.live and tengster making mention about it quite regularly.
