Please take note.. any kind of corn or corn products ARE NOT TO BE GIVEN to your piggies.. Corn is not a normal feed for GPs, it may contribute to allergies, and can be high in fat and certain sugars/starch. Additionally, some corn is contaminated with deadly aflatoxin which can cause liver failure and death.

Corn is very hard to digest and is a filler only, not much value when make it in a pellet, just like pellet that use some soybean product, is meant for filler. Maybe you double check with dr jenny her purpose of feeding corn, maybe she have a reason.

lols.... her reason ah... i think it was just that...
she told me to give my GP something for him to chew on so that he doesnt chew on his surgery wound...
then she said can try feeding him corn..

Apparently someone here is misreading. Chinchillas was pointing out that it would be better to use a vegetable washing liquid to quickly clean our veggies and fruits rather than soaking for a long period of time in water because many of the vitamins in fruits and veggies are water soluble.

One of the natural ingredients used in these washing liquids is corn.... corn alcohol....

I read back his post and he didn't say anything about feeding corn to guinea pigs.

Corn silk and husks is safe for Guinea pigs. You know those threadlike stuff and also the husk itself. As for the corn itself, those dried corn that comes in hamster food is a no no. Some say that small amounts of fresh corn is ok, but maybe its a debatable issue.

Meh nevermind.. about the corn.. whatever floats your boat.. you can comment anything you want about it.. It is indeed something debatable about.. anyways back on focus on GP's sleep.gif

Rev thats a very nice C&C, but somehow i just find it small.. but i dunno maybe the angle you were taking from makes it small.. But i like the design XD I can help you about the fleece.. You can go to Carrefour or Ikea to get fleece. Other than that Home & Harmony has fleece also.. H&H sells it for RM19.90 Just bought one 2 days back to sew into my suggie's cage set.

The fleece you can cut into many2 pieces to change everytime. They have very nice designs. Alternately you can use your Hay as bedding as well.. then put placemats on it if you need. Other beddings you can try is also Breeder Celect.. But a little pricey. Another one is Eco Straw from Oxbow.. very pricey XD but its very very nice bedding.. its made out of hay too.. compressed and your GPs can actually eat the bedding if they wish.

But i personally like fleece laugh.gif cheap and economic.. But it takes hard work to wash it every 4-5 days~

I dint get what you were trying to say about the wood?

Btw~ would u like me to put these pics on the front page? Or wait till u move your piggies in?

@SugarCoatedCandy

Uh, lemme move them in first. Then only give you a picture of them inside their new cages.

where can i find Home & harmony shop?

The size is actually supposed to be 3 x 2 cube.. but space problem...
So become 1 x 3. It is a lot bigger than the current cage they have right now. Trust me sad.gif

I didnt expect my gp to give birth thats y have to make C & C cage, and then for now this cage would be the equalivant of moving from a low cost house to a normal terrace house. I might set a 2nd floor in future but definetly not yet. Not till I know how mafan the fleece washing is going to become

@hitz

I don't mind you stealing my idea, tongue.gif maybe you can improve on it too?
Coz right now the cage is closed cage which can be opened on top to become open cage.

I decided on doing an open and close concept coz suddenly my landlord got cat! WTH!

Only good thing is that i am on 2nd floor, the cage is on 2nd floor, the cat is not allowed into the house. But meh, better be safe then sorry

Putting fleece as bedding is just lovely to go with, but ur GP must be litter trained lorh.. Else sweat.gif

Wood is not recommended unless u have a coat of paint, safe for pets wan, as the pee poo may absord into the wood, making it more smellier..

I would OPT for FLEECE!! Gambatae!! Post more when u have the fleece yea!!
