Can someone tell me how to train guinea pig pee or poo in litter box?

2 of my elder 10mth old GP seems to be unhappy lately.. since the arrival of 2 younger new GP that are housed to the cage beside their cage..

they seems to be jealous becoz we put more concentration to the baby GP (this is becoz they are still so so so young and i suspect tat the pet shops are selling them even they are not even supposed to be separated from their mother GP yet..)

2 elder abby always sit at each corner lying their by their own... seems less active than b4 the new GP arrive... aiks... (b4 tat they will wheek even when they are not hungry when I pass by.. now they dun even bother to take a glance at me.. T.T)

I've mixed my 5 months oLd GP with my 2.5 years oLd femaLe pig & they get aLong weLL.
Head butting & some dominating gestuRes are noRmaL.. as Long as they R not fighting/biting each other then u don't have to sepaRate them.
But Juztiny is right... some GPs are better off aLone. I have one Like that at home. But the thing is... I put theiR cages next to other GP's cages so they won't be LoneLy that way.

As for serious MITES problem... Advantage wont heLp d kua.
Advantage is onLy effective if it's a minoR infestation.
If not wrong, I can't remmeber very well but Advantage cannot kill every stage of the mites life cycle... forgot which one it cant kill...
(the stages include: eggs, larva, adult...etc).
Perhaps it can't kill the eggs so u'll have to keep applying it to keep killing the adults. (correct me if i'm wrong)
But I guess now.. should try ivermectin (taken orally or by injection).

U mean u use undiluted vinegar? Normal vinegar aka cuka only is it?.. Wow.. Didn know it is so effective.. Guess mites dont like acid.. Anyway how do u know ur gp havin mites? Will gp groom themselve like mouse?

Sifu Takashi ar i got something to ask hor...u mean put the gp inside a tupperware with warm water + vinegar and then take gp out...clean with warm water + vinegar by wrapping it...then no need to wash with water anymore just let the body dry with hair dryer only? I am going to try this out and hope all the mite mite die die die.... I dun need to buy any Advantage to cure them i just need warm water,vinegar and hair dryer...Oh if really works...Takashi...u really a savior for my gps....hahahaha...

If you buy the set from Tesco/Careffour, it should come with the connectors.  If you want to buy extra connectors, go Daiso and find.

For KL member there is a Daiso in Sg Wang newly open and all items are Rm5...I have check there and cubes they got but the quantity very few only...so once u saw it better faster grab all...

The Sunway pet shop I went is Petlover Centre (if not mistaken la) opposite cold storage...Normal GP (short hair) - RM48,Abby and Special colour RM65 and once i saw teddy GP (cute cute)   -RM200...so it really depend on which breed u choose la...One thing very very important i learn from experince...hahaha find a gp that u fall in love on first sight then it will be the one suitable with u...just dun too excited when choose ur gp like me...hahaha I was too excited when i choose mine and end up one can bond with me completely and one still running away when i try to touch it...after 8 months still dun recognise me...hahahaha funny GPs..but no matter wat Love them to bits...

Talking about G force hor...yeah i agreed many saw that movie and have the urge to go and buy GP and hopefully they dun expect their GP to act like the one in G force...I got the urge to buy GP cos i watched bedtime stories Bugsy...at first was an urge but after having them... i am in love with them...very gentle animals....

all watch g-force then envy the kids which bought gforce in the petstore and take hope to make up, dress up, plus nail work.. my gal go crazy when she saw that scene.. lol.. i was like ow well .. guess the mouse will jus be on me.. guinea pig is her nex target.. still lookin for 1.. recently go to petlover centre at mines.. saw a apair of guinea but it is already booked.. i was like eh! can booked 1 kah? well still searching patiently for 1.. going to sunway and check it out this weekend.. hopefully still got stock there..

Hopefully u and ur girl girl can find your pets there. GP is social animals...usually ppl buy it in pairs...without a partner they will get stress and lonely and die easily..unless the master can spend more time with them...GP have different personality some likes to have friends and some just like to be alone...so i u wish to find a lone ranger kind of piggy then u have to carefully choose lo...Good luck...   Oh forgot to tell u..pls tell ur gal hor...gp gals dun need make up and manicure one...all the need is hay, water, pellets and lots of LOVE

I have one abby is now pregnant.  May be due by next week or 2 more weeks.  If you can wait..then see how lah..its tummy is quite big, I think should be 3 babies.

Hey guys! I just got a pair of male and female guinea pigs from my friends as a birthday present! THEY ARE EXTREMELY CUTE! I named them Chuck and Blair  They are currently living in a cage. They don't seem active.. And when I wanna carry the female one, she shrieks(I'm not sure if that's called a shriek) Any advices guys? I wanna keep them for a very long time!

hi guys!

theres something wrong with my gp. one of its teeth seems like, loose. the lower teeth. i didnt realize it until today i was checking his mouth while he was licking me. it seems wobbly (i dunno how to describe it).

but he's been eating well, finish all his pallet though he eat less hay. i dunno what cause this.

It is Abby breed...the box that u used for hidey seem too big la..and it taken most of the cage space...a show box will be just nice for them...try to change to a smaller box enough to let them hide and pls just just either small feeding bowl or big one and not both cos all take spaces...LOL....if u put big one then will usually both of them eat and pee and poo in the bowl...i will suggest u put big one when  they are toilet train...put small bowl with pellets and then give them alfafa hay to boast them up...Kekeke...i am good at this la tat is why both my gps chuuby like me Good luck!!1

Congratulation wor...they are so adorable...pls give them a week time to get use to ur house environment...usually they will hide in the box or hidey cos they are scare to be harm...give them some time...eventually they will come out...give them food and make the trust there...do not shock them with bathing yet cos they might not trust u anymore...
I saw a member said that GP period???I got 2 females and I can tell u that the GPs do not experince period la...he is lying or he dunno anything about GPs...i mean the shop keeper....i think that gp might be sick...poor gps...after a week and once they are comfortable with u then only u start with the bathing thing... u can use basin and then put cloth and then put warm water...and put ur gp in and calm it down cos usually it will cari lubang lari one...so pls handle one by one if u dunno their behaviour...they look clumsy but they can jump and run real fast....Calm down by calling its name and talk to it...(sound crazy) but it works for me...kakakaka then use Takashiro's method should be able to get rid of the mites...it is difficult to cure but it is better to cure now then later..it will make the GP weak...Remember bath the GP and also  Wash the Cage with vinegar as well...it kill the remaining eggs and mites in the cage. Mite mite dun bite human but it will makes our skin irritating so wash ur hand after u handle ur gps...GPs sure bite when it is wrongly handle...the way u hold them and cuddle them if they pain then they will ngaw u...(bite) oh another incident is...do not take pellets or hay and then after tat u touch them and play their chin it will also cause it bites u...Why? cos they tot ur finger is food...yummy...fleshy pellets...Kakaka kena many times already numb with it...dun hit ur gps cos they dunno one all u can do is just slightly pinch it fur on the back their..and usually it will wheek la...just a second just to let it know it hurt u...then later it will bite u less...

Where to get show box?`Also, from the pic, can you guess how old they are? Cause according to my friend, she said the guinea pigs js arrived at the shop today.

Well they r fine now.. jus finish customize the cage for them.. But ya.. Jus like u say chubbyangel.. They jus hide in the box and stay put.. But once i take out the box.. They become active.. Come out lookin for food and pooing.. Lol.. A lot of poo lor.. Yesterday their poo is all dry and golden brownish colour bt jus now i gav them red pepper,lectuce, baby tomato and cucumber ..their poo is now a bit wet and black in colour.. Is it normal.. the male is a bit brave now let me touch d.. But the female will always run away when my hand come near.. Timid little gal but quite smart as she is toilet train d.. But the male will jus pee and poo at house and at each corner.. Lol.. Well hope they r comfortable with me soon..

I can only touch them, and when I sayang them, they stay quietly. Haha!
And they wont eat carrot and that erm.. salad vege, if you get what i mean, why aa? They only eat the dried grass my friend bought from the shop and pellets.
Also, I let them sleep in the balcony with a sheep skin covered above the cage, is it okay? Will they catch a cold?
There are white stain on the hardcover i put inside the cage, what is it?

Hi guys, I Saw a crested guinea Pig at a Pet shop. The owner selling it for RM100. Is it worth it? Is it very rare? But his butt there got a little white. Still also called as crested ma?

Buy the cage (ideally approx. 3' x 2.5') and the food bowl,  500 ml water bottle, guinea pig food pellets and hay, bathroom floor mat to lay on the base of the cage.

Most of all , read up the first page of this thread.  All the info about guinea pig are posted there.

You are lucky that she just pooed..mine pee on me too...nothing one la...or maybe numbor ekor is around the corner..better check and buy 4 numbers la...mana tau...poo alot means they are healthy lo...eat and poo alot are common to GPs....mine this morning u clean at night u need to clean again...unless they are toilet train..just need to clean the toilet.Well, my cage divided into two parts...one is with bathroom mat which i layered with newspaper..without the bathroom mat the gps will make tunnel from it...( wanna know how they make it hahah just experince it la...) but ur gps still small dunno the trick yet.wait a bit bigger la...then u more headache...just like kids...Hahaha....
well, another part of the cage will be their big big toilet...i put wood shaving and they will run and poo and pee on on wood shaving....just sometimes they pee on the bathroom mat...but still never mind cos got newspaper ma..I a bit malas lo...i clean it once a week...at first i clean it 3 days once but now....i know they are some kind of toilet train so do not need lo...Lazy master...luckily they are just fine...

The shop assistant there say hav to press the bird.. If got pop out longer then is a male if no pop out is a female.. I also not too sure..

Here are the babies picture. 2 babies are quite similar color (cream, latte brown and white) but A is red eyes and B is with black eyes.  Another one is brown and black color.  Still too young to determine the sex.
