Guys, can i know what is the other name than Chloroplast? I search every stationery shop in Sabah and none of them know what is Chloroplast. And i go to the Advertisment shop, and they say this "polycarbonate". I don know whether it's the same of Choroplast or not but the price is INSANE, which is RM200-RM300+ per piece. If here don't have sell choroplast, can anyone tell me what item that i can use to replace chloroplast?
*
Choroplast looks quite similar like Polycarbonate, but Polycarbonate is for roofing purpose, more durable (last for 10 years under sun) that is why the price is also very expensive.

Choroplast is more like corrugated cardboard. That is why we can use scissor to cut. A piece is about RM8-12 only.

It's a male or female? Do you think it's ok if i bring him home? Do you think he will get better? Feel so pity for that guy.  cry.gif
*
If you are confidence that you are able to treat it, then bring it home. Sometimes I did that too, if I fall in love with that particular breed or colour, I'll buy it no matter what price and condition. Last time I bought one of my Sheltie, it has torn ears (due to fight), I still buy... biggrin.gif Peruvian and Sheltie hard to come by, so grab lah.

really? thanks. hehe.

mine takot2 to come out from his house. always stay the house until nobody around its will coming out.

It is also very much depending on your GP personality. I have 2 Sheltie GPs (I bred), until today (already 1.5 years old), each time I carry them, they will scream very loud. It is their personality, like to scream for help as if I am going to slaughter them like that, sometimes I also worried that my neighbour would think that I bred GP and slaughter them to eat.

how much approximately for hay hanger? any ideas to DIY 1?
*
My hay hanger is actually a plastic container, then cut a hole about 2" x 2" size, looks like a tissue box, instead of using tisue box, plastic container is more lasting.

And how you hang it?
*
I didn't hang them though, just put inside, sometimes they will play with it like kicking a ball rolling. You want to hang also can, use hot iron rod poke 2 holes, and then use the green plastic flexi wire string (those use for gardening) to tie the container on the cage.

thumbup.gif  it is a good story...lucky those piggies..In this forum the most GP that a member got I guess should be Juztiny which are 15 gps..but the stories that you share here is not only 10++ but all are about 50++really impressed with it...2 Gps enough to make me worry...if i got more than 10 Gps i sure go crazy...
Too bad your Uncle farm is not open to public or else we can arrange a group visit and have gathering there...LOL sure sure lots to share there... rolleyes.gif
*
I have 15 GPs, and I must say the maintenance costs are really quite high and costly. Cannot imagine keeping 50++, sure the breeder deprived those GPs' quality of life. My GPs consume 10kg of pellets in 6 days, so a month is about 50kg, around RM500 just for pellets alone (hagen), have not counted in hay like timothy or alfafa, vitamin C, fresh veg, etc. If I feed oxbow pellets, lagi broke! doh.gif

Provided your neighbourhood do not have any cats or monitor lizard. My sister's rabbit got killed by a neighbour's cat, eventhough her rabbit was inside the cage.

Huh?? how it happen? can u share more?
*
My sister's rabbit was inside the cage, one morning she found the rabbit body was stuck in between the cage iron bar, one arm is outside of the cage, that shown the arm was pulled from outside till the rabbit body was stuck. No way the stray dog can come inside the house compound, she is staying in corner house, but she doesn't keep any dogs. So only possible is cat that attacking her rabbit.

So keeping GPs outside the house needs to beware of the possible danger. I am fully aware of this danger, that's why I don't let my GPs or rabbit roam freely in garden compound without supervision, my dogs are guardian of my small animals. They hate cats, they will shoo off the cats if they are on rooftop etc. In my neighbourhood, there are quite a lot stray cats roaming on our rooftop. Probably they are eyeing on my GPs too, but they won't dare to come down as my dogs are roaming freely in compound.

Unique...and really looks like a little ba ba black sheep.

Yesterday one of my pregnant Abby sows gave birth to 4 healthy babies. One baby is very unique in color, agouti mix with brown color. Actually that pregnant sow was already 1 yr 3 months old and it was her 1st pregnancy. I am glad that she had no complication in delivery at all. 4 babies is the most in my record history I ever had in 1 sow. Will post up the babies picture later.

Hard to say...it depends on your luck...some says 3-4 months old, but based on my own experience, all my sow GPs are ready to mate only at the age of like 6-13 months of age.

how to train the GP to litter properly??hhee
*
You need to put the litter tray inside the cage, then everyday pick up its poo inside the tray, then your GP will understand that after some times.

Hays and pellets maintains the length of teeth on GP. But if you see that its longer, you can try offering more Hay. Do you provide hay 24/7?
Else you can try putting in some chewing blocks for it too.
*
Giving hays, pellets or chewing blocks is not a full proof measure to prevent over-grown teeth on GP. You still need to monitor their teeth periodically, if their teeth seem quite long than usual, or they eat a lot and don't gain weight, then you need to bring them to vet to trim the teeth.

I have been feeding her with Alfafa hays 24/7; but she dun eat the 'batang', only de leaf.

I could see a bit her teeth even when she closed her mouth, or am i just being too sensitive?

Last time i thought she got mites coz there is no hair behind her ear but turns out she is fine.lol smile.gif
*
Ok..let me teach you how to measure the teeth. Use a ruler to measure its teeth from its gum, the teeth should not be more than 1cm length. Ideally should be around 0.8cm or 0.9cm in length measuring from its gum. The example guidance given is based on an adult GP.
