Mikapoh,
U should ask him to go for mezzo series i suppose.. hahaha..or even other brands . Aviano consider entry level speakers.. One day i will go for dyns....kenak dyns poisoned....lol
*
I am using Mezzo series for HT tongue.gif

Dynaudio for all HT speakers?? I bet you need to ditch your Emotive amp and get a Krell power amp instead for those power hungry speakers. No worry, there are quite a number of those amps in H4S forum.

I saw you have Marantz cdp, PS Audio & Dynaudio bookshelves for Hi-Fi. Enjoy the music and tell me how's the combination sound like.

Cheers.

It will be my pleasure biggrin.gif Please come and fetch me using your BMW 5-series brows.gif

I am afraid there are not many who own a manual SPL meter. I bought it from Htkaki.........

rclxms.gif Btw, your 2/6 looks bigger than i remember them to be. Im curious about you PS Audio Amp, how much were they brand new? (pm me if you dont mind)

Dyn for HT, really gotta get kick ass amps, my friend is a dyn collector, he had a temporary setup with Denon amp, Confidence C2 for front, Confidence center, and DM2/8 for rear, dual sub 250... my ears nearly bleed when he demo Final Fantasy 13 on the PS3 to me. really need amps which are powderful to push otherwise the harshness is unbearable.

I think he replaced the Denon with a huge Anthem multichannel amp and processor. I have yet to audit that.
*
Sigh, Dyns really need some serious juices to come alive, if not they will sound harsh.......I am sure dlyz is a dyn fan boy laugh.gif

zrill,

WOW, this is a very nice looking HT room. I think you are the first one here to have this starlight ceiling design. So, do you change the lighting color according to different movies??

I am intrigued to find you can install a 92" size screen for a seating distance of 10 feet. Is it too close? No room treatment? Bass traps at least....

Anyway, care to share us your equipments?

Enjoy.

Easy. Buy a beefy class A amp. Lol.

One fella is going to upgrade his >80kg Krell KSA-300S soon.
*
See who's talking now, our taiko also recommend beefy amp. thumbup.gif

There is one used krell kav-2250 (packing 250Wpc) selling RM5.8k nia. However, it looks like China made Krell model. Am I rite Htkaki? US made will be in black color.

Htkaki, one question for you. Talking about Class A amp for HT (I know Hi-Fi is different). Do you think Class A-B is more efficient and decent for HT playback? Say if the movies are dialogue based or comedy (less actions) where no serious power is consumed, do you think class A amp is wasting its energy?

Correct me if i'm wrong nod.gif

That model was made in USA. Krell KAV series is available in both silver and black and they were made in USA. These models are already obsolete and replaced by the Evolution series.

Thanks for the info.

WOW, guys you know what AVR is Shenton using?? Look carefully....it is Denon AVC A1!!! One of the few top AVR in this forum. Bingo, enjoy your movies bro! You are in a very elite club now.

Congratulation on the new killer system!

One more thing, your MS Bipole rears are really "no match" for your system especially what this AVC A1 is capable of. Your surrounds are only good for Denon 3311 or 4311 level.

If not mistaken, DM series are their entry-level models.

It is a lovely set-up with dual subs.

But try to beware the 2 hot Onkyo babes squeezing together which can generate lots of heats problem.

Talking about Subwoofer and cables, my friend's friend just told him that by swapping to a higher grade powercords (costing few grands), this has instantly elevated his Velo sub performance by 30% !!!!!

Wow, like that all higher grade sub can 'tah pau' already. All you need is a top grade cables! The chap's sub locality in the room is unchanged. Hearing is believing. However, to each its own.

Thanks Htkaki for the Bi or Dipole info, now only I know its detailed function albeit heard them before blush.gif

+1. I have to agree there isn't much benefits gain for power cable.
For HT setup, difference on power cord is barely minimal.
*
+1. Power cables are also system dependent. On my Naim electronics, the VDH Mainstream does not bring any 'real' benefits. On the contrary, Denon receiver does reap certain benefits from it BUT quite frankly is pretty minimal. I was doing the testing using Tsai Chin Bluray concert. I bet I would not have noticed the difference during movie playback. However, the same cannot be said for projector since I have not tested it.

eerrr... not entirely true. You do not want a powerful to overwhelm the rest of the speaker channels. That would be overkill unless the intention to upgrade the rest of the system is in the card.
*
+1 on matching concept. Certainly you do not want a monster svs or rythmik sub pairing with satellites speakers biggrin.gif

Why my name get mentioned? Peasant like me still use BD60 sad.gif

I watch movies solely on my Dune player unless I have got tonnes of bluray disc.

Htkaki, I thought you care less for video quality why now opt for 3D pula??

1 word of advice if you really wanna to venture into 3D. Get Biggest screen you can afford since you've got a big demo room. 80' to 100' for your room, boh kick for the image to pop out!

Went to audit panasonic ae7000 at sibu hifi shop, the 3d is simply stunning! Too bad i cant watch it for more than 30mins..gets a bit dizzy though. But the color is so nice and bright. And yet the price is cheap!
*
Haha. 3D is definitely not for you and me. Not for Htkaki too cause we all feel rclxub.gif

I still feel it is useful for wow factor only.

Of course I don't expect a hifi salesman to know anything about building construction. Neither do I expect a banker, lawyer, doctor, teacher, accountant, scientist, etc to about it either. So if you're insulting htkaki's knowledge (or lack thereof) of building construction, then indirectly you're insulting all the other people too.
*
+1 Exactly. Be reminded this is Home Entertainment column and not what Building Construction forum!

P/s have the courtesy to exchange ideas. One can still show off his knowledge but insulting is intolerable here!

Humidity can potentially affect the speaker cones and surrounds (rate depends on material). It may even affect the furniture (since also wood based).

Especially the rubber surround which can affect how a speaker sounds nod.gif
