So any of you diehard fans of collecting the above?

I kinda like Paul Smith socks but they never bring in Asian sizes in their boutiques here.

I'm always on the lookout for nice socks and pocket squares (the yellow one below is a Ferragamo one someone gave me)

actually i don't use suits that much. my current working suit is in dire need of a change as it's quite shabby now (i think it's around 10 years old) and seen a lot of mileage.

currently my PS all use to blow nose one... rclxms.gif

jind86 - lacy???? and white socks too?? tongue.gif

i have a soft spot for argyle socks though...

Sartorial blasphemy!! Get a seperate handkerchief! tongue.gif

Agreed. Argyle socks deserve more love as plain socks are boring.

I think the actual function of a tie, cravat is to catch food from spilling onto the shirt. Not a dinner bib. hahaha.

i love argyle socks. i've got a few but always on the lookout for more colourful variants.

i've bought some from robinsons, gap, uniqlo, etc. i also saw some in M&S.

anyway i was shopping for some nice PS last weekend. didn't find any colourful printed/textured silk ones at all! ferragamo, canali, gucci, etc zilch! i didn't bother to step into hermes to check though as i know if they had any, it would be over my budget.

thomas pink had some plain looking cotton ones going on offer for RM99.

u can either treat them like silk ties and send them to the laundry for professional cleaning (kinda expensive if u got many) or handwash them gently in mild soap and air dry (lightly squeezing out the water and not wringing them violently).

It is so difficult to find pocket squares. Robinsons at Gardens doesn't have them. Mytieshop only has synthetic ones; I bought a white poly PS there on a whim. There are 5 in various solid shades of green at Metrojaya Mid Valley and a solid black. None at Isetan. That's strange, because braces can be found everywhere. I can't even find a plain linen PS, and instead had to have a cotton handkerchief cut down to size and rehemmed by my alterations tailor.

I had a look at ebay and just bought these two.

Well, the above ebay purchase arrived after a long delay due to the icelandic ash. It is awesome. The silk is thick and substantial, the print very charming. What a fantastic deal. The rolled edges were done very nicely by the seller who is located in London.

netmatrix, actually i was thinking to pair these with dressier options after being inspired by some pics in The Rake smile.gif not much interesting options for socks locally (except some occasional argyles). even the designs at Paul Smith lately aren't inspiring (not to mention overpriced).

malutapimau, u should check out the online store. lots of options and some really really nice ones (but some a bit too much to pay for socks). had to hold myself back before the bill came up to some insane amount. the package deals are good.

as for the combos, i'll try to. it's going to be difficult to take a full body self-shot.

the socks are generally going to be kept hidden under wool/cotton pants (mostly grey/blue/khaki) to be paired with jacket/shirt/tie/pocket square options.

the corgi ones are really nice...

I also like the range of Pringles, Falke, Burlingtons.

Lots of options for knee high socks as well.

Pocket squares with matching colours! Now I have never tried pairing pockets squares with odd socks but kind of tempted to venture into it since it seems interesting.

Definitely. Matching ps to ties and whatnot sure can become a boring affair after some time. Now pair them with odd socks, that would be fresh and letting both accessories peeking out a little from a suit will surely create a subtle but yet fun statement.

I initially thought it was a penis sock.

Added on July 7, 2010, 2:53 pmI've always wanted a very well executed plain white linen pocket square. However, I find it psychologically painful to have to pay the sort of prices vendors were asking for them. RM60 for a hanky? Sorry, I cannot do it.

So I looked beyond the usual suspects and turned to ... ebay. Snapped up a set of 2 vintage Irish linen hankies from the days when kleenex hasn't yet been invented and people actually used this stuff daily.

The quality is awesome. Such fine cloth. The seller's pictures do not do it justice.

Also, the edge finishing is more interesting than the ubiquitous rolled edge.

Good buy-Irish linen tends to age well as compared to Italian due to the tighter weave. Should serve you well. Just make sure some person doesn't pull it out of your breast pocket to wipe his nose ( good looking females excepted )

Probably a CD/DVD organizer box based on the number of cd sleeves in there.

Speaking of which, I noticed that the local Daiso stopped selling pocket squares.

Yeah it probably is CD holders inside a transparent box. But its pretty good idea. I wonder why i didn't thought of it in the first place. Really of all the wardrobe ideas, none actually made hanky holders. You get tie boxes and even shoe compartments. Maybe could find something like this in Ikea. Daiso probably just have this batch to clear. I sadly missed out on their nice solid color scarf last time.

I found a wonderful source of hand-rolled silk pocket squares in KL. Many colourways, very enlightened designs, very high quality, in a luxury shop with very friendly salespeople. Only RM32/piece. Even eBay would cost twice as much. I bought one, and plan to buy more.

Added on August 14, 2010, 7:54 pmPls don't PM me asking for the source. I'm not telling.

Cottons aren't all the same animal - they come in different weaves, weights, colors, patterns....etc.

I actually find that my cotton squares stay up & in position quite a bit better than the lightweight linen ones. Also take into consideration the fold that you use most often. I like a simple tv fold, so most fabrics work. Puff folds are best left for lightweight silks and airy linens.

IMO the ideal size is about 12", assuming your squares aren't made of 30oz corduroys. Mine keep a low profile in the pocket and certainly don't look like moobs!

My first pocket square was a Renoma cotton kerchief I had my alteration seamstress cut down to size (about 5"X5") and edges resewn.

It didn't really work. Went silk and linen and was happier.

Well.. I went to some shop in Pyramid specialising in ties etc... and I asked for pocket square.. they went "Ahh.. we have lots of handkerchief".

I bought 2... then I asked for silk knots... they were dumbfounded... after a graphic explaination.. one of the sales lady went "Oh! Cheongsam buttons! We dont have wor"

Speaking of silk knots.... does anyone have success putting them on AFTER you put on the shirt? Or the holes I'm using are just unusually tight?
