TS, no matter what advice you get or whateer you think doesn't matter.

Read your manual properly and you can have some printings like "do not place your xbox360 console in an enclosed space.

So want it to be tidy, but the place you put it will mess up the system itelf in the 1st place.

not convinced? try to read the advice given by Microsoft here:-
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox...ourconsole.aspx

something read like this in the link given above:-

Prevent the Console from Overheating
Do not block any ventilation openings on the console or power supply. Do not place the console or power supply on a bed, sofa, or other soft surface that may block ventilation openings. Do not place the console or power supply in a confined space, such as a bookcase, rack, or stereo cabinet, unless the space is well ventilated.

Is the space well ventilated? You need to install exhaust fan on your entertainment center to be considered "well ventilated"

yeah navigator, i've read the manual and remembered that exact phrase..

but somehow i have a problem in defining "well ventilated" .

I think I'll take a picture of my tv rack and posted it here. Maybe some of you can give me your ideas and thought on the place...

yes for real

google up some nyko reviews and even though its totally subjective

i believe power redistribution for the cooler and probably blocking ventilation ports behind the xbox could be the cause of more heat

currently, i face my aircond towards the side of the xbox ( right side ) horizontally

the hot air coming out from the back is actually, cool..

so means my ac air flew threw and came out behind

well the 2 fans behind the xbox is critical !

get a torch light and when its ON, shine behind.. the RPM for the fan is like a mere 800RPM to 1000RPM
this is not enough to blow out hot air... somehow something must "assist" it from the RIGHT

use the same torch light to shine from the right side of the box and u can see the GPU heatsink immediately

this is what u need to cool !

Seriously... after all this while and there is still people believe that adding extra fans to your 360 would make your 360 immune to 3ROD. Unless your fans can magically reduce your 360 internal temperature by 30 degrees else you are just wasting your money. 3ROD is inevitable for older console... as for Jasper, we'll have to wait and see for few more months.

Who would that be ? As far as I know, the Nyko Intercooler TS (the one that has its own power adapter) is simply 'an add-on' at the back that improves the air leaving the back of the console. That's it.

How does it make the console warmer, I have no idea.

If at all any 360 console owner wants to 'cool' their console the 'right' way, get a Nyko Intercooler TS and that's it.

After all, you're either prolonging the hardware failure or reassuring yourself everything is going to be alrite. smile.gif

May i know the notebook cooler is blowing the air towards the Xbox360 or exhausting the air away from it ? actually i don't fancy the notebook cooler on the market bcos of the weak fans, unless it's been diy with powerful fans.

For now, I only can suggest u to keep ur Xbox360 further to the back, closer to the ventilation hole the better, to increase the hot air to be exhausted away from the cabinet n reduce hot air from trapping within the cabinet.

the fan exhausting the air away from the console.. it sucks the hot stuff from the console.. wait2.. that doesn't sound right muehehehhee..

ahh i see... i used to put it on the floor, exactly in front of the cabinet.. the floor makes it cooler..

i don't know what temperate is on the fan, but the temperature raises to 37 degree max no matter if i put the console on the floor (without the cooling pad) or on the cabinet (with the cooling pad)

i think so.. but i wanted to put the console on the cabinet, if i put it in there without the cooling pad, the console felt hotter, i didn't check the thermometer, though..

Your statement is misleading.

While Nyko Intercooler is one of the cause problem. it's not due to "overheating".

The Nyko Intercooler pre EX is known to make scorches in the power connector & cause instability.

The overheat part is actually on the power supply & NOT the console itself. Although the scroching is on the console.

Lemme give u an idea.

A good ventilation means the space around the xbox should not accumulate heat.

If the space around the xbox is hot after 10mins or later, then it's definately damaging your console.
