I need a messenger bag for my RDMBP.

Something with a separate compartment, so that the laptop is on its own with nothing to scratch it.

I'll be carrying books as well.

Any brands you guys can recommend? Not Crumpler though, I need something a little more professional looking.

Like, but not quite. Colcasac has been around for a while, they go by the name AppleSac last time.

Materials

The Juan Valdez features a repurposed jute coffee bag exterior, reinforced with a mid weight hemp linen and is lined with a very soft 100% recycled polyester fleece lining. The jute exterior is made from actual used and cleaned coffee bags, and most have a very subtle coffee scent.

I was very much interested in this, until the coffee part. tongue.gif

I'll also be getting the SFBags sleeve case when it is available for shipping July 6th. No hurry as the Uintah works awesome now. Rugged on the outside, impossibly soft on the inside.

That looks an awesome sleeve!

As for me, I ended up with a simple leather sleeve from Opt.

I think I'm going to end up with Crumpler.

Saw a Belkin at Challenger in KLCC today, but I'm leaning more towards messenger bag rather than a backpack.

Can't seem to find many messenger bags, but Crumpler has quite a few choices.

Got another NRT-LAX trip in August. If you wanna jump in the purchase, holler. I'm buying mine in August to and get it shipped to Hilton LAX. Question is, Outback or SleeveCase? SleeveCase is more professional looking.

I bought a Crumpler Pinnacle of Horror today, but it doesn't completely cover the laptop. A small part is exposed. And I am going to be carrying books, notepads, etc and am afraid that it might come into contact and scratch the aluminum surface. Am I being to paranoid or should I let it slide? Maybe get one that's meant for a 17" laptop?

Also, it only JUST fits a 15" laptop, so I find that it might take 2 attempts to remove it from the bag.

Machines don't have much accessories. Try EpiCentre in Pavilion. I just did a walk-in and didn't really look at anything specific, but it looked like they have a lot more accessories than Machines do.
