hi, planning to get a backpack for my 15" mbp. i need to be able to put in 1-2 books, folder/file, charger/cable. i kind of like it if the laptop compartment is faux fur or microfibre. anyone can recommend one with good padding? i also like more neutral/professional look (black). budget around 500. thank

The SOLO Vintage Leather Backpack suits best.
The photo is per my previous post. It fits your budget. It should be cheaper but the problem is the cost of shipping.

Purchased the Tumi Alpha Bravo Knox backpack for my new Retina Display MBP.

http://www.tumi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4209926

Bought the tan one. Wanted to get the Brenthaven ProStyle Slimpack but not available here. Shipping from US easily costs a lot more than that bag alone due to volumetric size. The Alpha Bravo Knox fits the MBP just nice, with tons of compartmentalized pockets. I can carry my MBP, charger, my AKG headphones, the Hyperjuice MacBook external battery, RAT7 gaming mouse, external battery for iPhone and still have room to spare plus still have that slim profile.

Have you received it? How does it feel?
I am thinking of buying an alternative to my Solo Vintage Backpack - probably a leather messenger bag likethis.
There's one in eBay Malaysia but the postage costs is so high. sad.gif

Tomorrow go back malaysia change my debit card limit and order the rMBP xD

That looks an awesome sleeve!

As for me, I ended up with a simple leather sleeve from Opt.

Got another NRT-LAX trip in August. If you wanna jump in the purchase, holler. I'm buying mine in August to and get it shipped to Hilton LAX. Question is, Outback or SleeveCase? SleeveCase is more professional looking.

I am waiting for my Solo Laptop Messenger Bag.
Let's see how it goes.
I will give a holler if I decide to get another one.
Thanks for the offer. smile.gif

ic, even in web i also hardly see anyone selling hardcase for retina mbp sad.gif sleep those also for 15" mbp only.. sad ah. hopefully dont wait until my rmbp until very scratchy  then only they come out casing =='
*
I tried to find last week but it seems no one imports the MBP retina accessories yet (although you can get from the Online). Most are sleeves for the older MBP 15". I bought one from OPT.

get a sleeve in the meantime. who knows it'll grow on you wink.gif

a casing would negate the unibody's shell as a heat dissipation medium imo.
*
Initially I was thinking a casing too but got an advice about heat dissipation issue if using case, I decided to against it and now having the sleeve as the protection. But it still won't protect when using on the desk.

Maybe the rubber pads under the Macbook Pro are sufficient to protect from any scratch... tongue.gif
I have to get used to this "naked" MBPRD... biggrin.gif

Guys - I have another question... When I viewed youtube using Safari, the videos are intermittent but when I viewed with Chrome, the videos are perfectly fine/smooth. Did you encounter this?

That question is for the 2012 New MacBook Pro/MacBook Air thread, not here. Short answer: poor implementation and integration of Flash into Safari.

Thanks for the feedback.
Sorry, I forgot which thread I was on before posting that question.

Does a cooler pad even help? Since the air vents of rMBP are at the sides.

It definitely helps!!
My MBP Retina is burning hot if place on my lap.
Really need the Cooler Pad to cool down the MBP...

That's the iPearl one.

From what bro BRY7 said about it, the quality is terrible.

I did check the product out when I was at MacStudio but didn't fancy it. Plus, they only have the non-matte version which is prone to scratches.
*
Oh no!
Thanks for the tip. Any other good alternative?
