Flash disk and ram upgrade or you can fit in 2 disk instead of one
Any store will do although those apple authorised might charge you more This post has been edited by viper-xs: Feb 6 2011, 04:15 PM |

what do you mean by flash disk?
i don't know that term. enlighten me more please. =)) my current ram is 4GB, will upgrade to 8GB makes my work ( Adobe After Effects rendering/etc.., etc.. ) faster? is it possible to upgrade Processor? my current ones is 2.4GHz Intel Pro Duo. anyway, i heard that only Apple Certified can repair/upgrade/service our macs. if not, will void our warranty. correct me if i'm wrong. |

QUOTE(shyey @ Feb 6 2011, 08:17 PM) what do you mean by flash disk? i think by flash disk he meant SSD. basically it's a faster, more expensive hard drive. this is the best upgrade you can do if u have the moneyi don't know that term. enlighten me more please. =)) my current ram is 4GB, will upgrade to 8GB makes my work ( Adobe After Effects rendering/etc.., etc.. ) faster? is it possible to upgrade Processor? my current ones is 2.4GHz Intel Pro Duo. anyway, i heard that only Apple Certified can repair/upgrade/service our macs. if not, will void our warranty. correct me if i'm wrong. im not sure if a RAM upgrade will speed up rendering. but no, you cannot upgrade the processor of any laptop. n it should be Core 2 Duo, not Pro Duo u're wrong about only apple certified can upgrade etc. u can do it urself, just make sure u dont spoil anything |

QUOTE(shyey @ Feb 7 2011, 12:34 AM) so the only upgrades available are HDD & RAM? Rendering etc is not my field but I'll try my best in terms of sharing friends' knowledge in this area.hmmm... don't think worth it. might as well wait for new mbp and sell my current mbp 2010 and get a new one? =3 thanks anyway. From what I can remember there are few that you can do to improve it. Sunce this is mbp you can forget about those cpu, gpu and stuff. If you have a friend that can lend you these spares before deciding then it will be great. Upgrade ram to 8gb and try to get perhaps a firewire external disk for you scratch drive etc seperated from the OS. If you see performance gain noticeably faster then you can think of maybe: Getting firewire external drive Get a second internal hdd and decide for flash or those normal ones For memory you can try to install some freeware and when you do your rendering please watch for some vital stats like swapping etc. This will pretty much tell you if you are in need of memory upgrade I won't suggest new mbp since you still limit yourself in terms of these. If you are serious might as well go for mac pro or maybe imac the very least. You waited for new mbp and adobe released new software that basically tie you down again. If you want to make the best experience out of this then maybe try those upgrades. Can always carry the ram perhaps or sell it off and certainly move the flash disk or ext fw hdd to new mbp should you decide to get one |

Have u all heard about the momentus XT? It's hybrid, SSD and HDD if I'm not mistaken. Had anyone use this before? Surveyed the price at lowyat, only cost around rm4++ for 500gb. Which one should I upgrade first, RAM or SSD? Which one will greatly increase MacBook performance?
