I just brought my P1 yesterday. But until now i still can't get access to the internet. My modem only blinking from red to yellow and yellow to red and it's never stop blinking. I tried change my modem place many times but the outcome still the same.

Before i register yesterday, that salesman told me that my area is already covered. He show me the map and i can see my home is almost near the coverage border and then its highlights with yellow color instead of green color. does it's effect the connection of my modem. and how can i know which way i should place my modem so it can facing the P1 antenna?

FYI, im now staying in taman melati, and my home is facing Jalan Taman Melati 8.

Hope to hear a good feedback from ur site.

thanks

Hi dude,

Is your coverage area is still new? let say... 2, 3 weeks?
If so, you might get some problem to surf the net with P1 without any dc.
My area is at Ampang and when i noticed that my house is already covered (new coverage, like 2, 3 weeks old), its very hard to get no dc, as far as i remember, i can stay connected like 8/9 hours before dc. You need to find a good G-Spot of P1 at ur house, after getting the right spot, on the modem for 30 minutes. blinking amber/green still ok, at least you know ur area can get the coverage. After 30 minutes, if you can't get a static signal, try to face ur modem other side, maybe left, right or center, try it. I've been doing this too for quite sometimes. If you can get a static red signal, dah ok, u already can surf the net but better if you can get amber signal.

currently, after a month of struggling finding the correct direction at my house sweat.gif ,
i can get amber signal. youtube stream ok, download also ok. worth of it. rclxm9.gif

And tonight the connection seems to be amazingly slow. And the speed spikes a lot too.

Almost two days now with constant dc or no internet at all. Called the hotline 4 times now, and the reply are still the same. Maintenance lar, i don't put the modem correctly lar, try pinging lar. Makes matters worst is yesterday and today is my off day, and i can't get shit with this rubbish connection.

Thinking about downgrading. I don't mind the speed, just as long i got internet access. And i'm not sure whether P1 will rebate anything from this 2 days.

After living in hell with Streamyx for the past 3 years, and now this. It just can't get any better.

i agree on that but sometimes, it will be better if i put the modem the other side of the base station. example: at the p1 website it say put the modem facing right, i will put my modem on the left bcuz if i put the modem on the right, i get red signal and if i put the modem on the other side, i can get amber signal. sweat.gif

i think it depends on the area it self.
i'm testing p1 in 2 different areas. so far so good. thumbup.gif

This is a very common problem I get. You can try the following steps to see if it helps.

1) Reset The Network Adapter
Open Network and Sharing Center for the connection, View Status, then Diagnose. After diagnosis hopefully it'll give you an option to reset the network adapter. Usually this works 90% of the time unless something really is wrong with P1's network status.

2) Manually try to reset yourself.
Run cmd.exe then type
CODE

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

If all else fails I usually turn off both computer and modem. Then I start the modem first, wait till I get green light. Then only I turn on my computer.

I'm not sure if this is P1's problem or Vista's problem - but it sure is damn annoying.

Anyway, right now I can't surf P1 at all - even on Linux - getting limited connectivity. Resorting to using Streamyx. Their base station probably has issues again. Sigh.

You can also try
Network and Sharing Center -> View Status -> Disable
Then under Tasks, select "Diagnose and repair".
After the diagnosis, choose to enable the Local Area Connection.
