@Jeffrey1987 - current iMac is still using Arrandale family (first gen Core i series) whereas the new MBP is using Sandy Bridge family (second gen Core i series)

@writeprotect - Microsoft Office for Mac only come with Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook. No project or visio for you on a Mac side. But there is an alternative out there which is for Mac. And if you feel 13' too small for you, go ahead and get the 15' with High res display.

@kelloo - why go for outdated version if you can get a new 1 with better in performance. unless you don't mind to stuck with core 2 duo processor, just go ahead.

p/s --> my recommendation, i think you shud get the core i5 one.. XD

@writeprotect - Yes! now all Apple machines already equipped with intel Processor can be install windows on it by using Boot Camp or by virtual software (such as parallel and VMware fusion). Good for those who still using windows app which is not yet available on Mac platform.

btw, installing windows on Mac is so easy. smile.gif

For those who want to install via Boot Camp, 2010 MacBook Air and all model 2011 MacBook Pro only support Windows 7. still thinking to install XP or Vista? don't even bother...
more info? please refer here ---> Link

@writeprotect - basically the "ehem" software is prohibited to be discuss here.. but, once you already know Windows have all those kind of "ehem" stuff and the way to find it, sure you can find for Mac as well.

@wah chai - Major differences between Apple and Windows are their OSes.. Windows is using Windows 7 and Apple using Mac OS X. 2 different platform. There is no specific/special reason if you want to buy a MacBook Pro coz it's depend on what you need. Or should i ask, what kind of software that you used on daily basis? From that, you can narrow down why should you get a Mac. smile.gif

@TheLaptopDudeGuy,

First of all, that is kinda longgg nickname you have there. biggrin.gif
Based on you description, i'm more toward looking at your budget. Since you said your budget is around RM3700, why not invest 13' lowest end 2011 MBP? We are talking investment here. Get a latest model if you afford to since the new machine is faster than the previous model. But if you really into saving kind of guy, YES, there is no harm for you to get the older machine and save from there. BUt, it is wiser to choose the new model and put it as an investment for 3 years.

P/s - The new 2011 MBP can be install up to 16GB ram even though Apple claim only 8GB! But the cost? BOoM! Wait until 1x 8GB become cheap then you can upgrade! brows.gif

Which model should i get? I like the 2010 model, but it has an older core 2 duo proc, i also like the 2011 model, but it has a weaker gpu... what do you guys think i shud get? im slightly more inclined toward the 2010 model, cuz i can buy a second hand one and plus its cheaper,save me some money, i already have a pc, so gaming can be done on the pc. I'll mainly be using the macbook for web browsing, watching youtube, plying minecraft, a little vid editing (not major editing, just minor editing with iMovie) and minor pic editing with paint (lol).

So yeah, what do you guys think is most suitable for me? if the difference isnt that big, i'd go for the 2010 model, since its cheaper now. will the core2duo last for me abt 3 yrs? im planning to keep it for at least 3 yrs. remember to keep in mind of my budget also which is abt rm3700.

one more question, this is just out of curiosity, does games like suddenattack or mat smooth in parallels? like abt 30fps? i know its a dumb question, but im actually kind of curious abt the performance.

thank you, all you apple sifus out there!  biggrin.gif

Just to let you know, ordering CTO model will take you up to 3 weeks plus to arrive coz you are asking the "AllIT hypermarket" to buy on behalf of you.

Since that you are doing lots of heavy stuff, i would suggest to upgrade at least 8 or 16GB of RAM.

Actually you can ask like Switch at The Mines (for example) to buy those CTO model for you and yeah, you can't get the edu price once you place an order with them.

Basically, if you want to get edu price, you NEED to buy from Online Apple store.

I went to AllIT hypermarket at lowyat and they said the only place you can buy an i7 model is online.

Yes, I'm going to pay cash.

I'm getting i7, 4GB RAM, 6970 (2GB), 2TB HDD and ACPP for my gaming, video editing, full HD movies, extreme multitasking, CAD, song arranging/recording. Is 4Gb RAM enuff?

I read one of the posts saying that the only place with student discount is at limkokwing and k-12. Is this still true? or have other resellers offered d same? I'm a university student.

Edit : I just called apple and they said the only place for i7 is online. What do I do? They also said that education discount is only offered online. No way of buying it then?  sad.gif  ohmy.gif

Edit #2 : I called epicentre limkokwing, not only can't I buy an i7 ordered through them, the education discount also doesn't apply to other university students.

p.s. ugh,i havent bought an apple yet i'm having all these troubles d. wonder wut'd happen in d future.

@abafamny_90

i believe Apple have their own reason not to. Anyway, as i said before, you want to get EDU Price with that CTO model, you need to purchase it thru online store. smile.gif
