If you buy protection together with your mac, you get 3 years protection from date of purchase.
But if you buy protection within one year (364 days after purchasing your mac) you get another 3years, the protection will be 4years in total.

har? then might as well buy it after that. more worth it what, considering its the same price :|

i know. ok, lets say the 2 scenarios below:

buying macbook pro 13". default = 1 year warranty
buy applecare same time = 1 + 2 years warranty

buy applecare after 360 days (less than 1 year) = 360 + 3 years warranty.

is this correct? how do they calculate the applecare if i buy it after the product purchase?

i tot applecare doesn't cover any warranty if u have failed to purchase the applecare within ur 1st year. this means u cant buy the applecare after ur 365days from the date of purchase.

correct me if im wrong
*
u r correct. but i stated above is 360 days which...er...364 if u like it. it means right before the 1st year expires.

ok, so buying with the laptop or buying after that (less than 1 year) has no difference. this makes more sense actually. smile.gif the other post was saying the other way.

mbp 13" is the most affordable one i guess. smile.gif get the lower range one and aim for the free 4gb memory upgrade. i believe illustrator can work well as long as no 3d stuff or intensive video editing.

@Qool,
The iPod Touch promo is onli available in the USA; unfortunately it's not available to us here in MY.

Am not sure about Switch's Education Discount but if you really want, U could always place the order Online; just make sure U actually do qualify for the discount though they don't really check!

Also, the 15" MBP all comes with 4GB RAM.  If you get the 13" one, the 2.53GHz version comes with 4GB RAM.  Alternatively I think the APR's giving a pretty good deal in RAM upgrade biggrin.gif
*
mmm u think worth it to get the 5599 version for the better processor and hdd ? the ram actually some places like mac city are giving free upgrade for the 2.26 model

im sorry.Im too noob in this section. And i found no proper thread.Really sorry. In my previous post, there no reply at all.So i started in main threads.

Does all the price of Imac same in all branch.?Im just worrying that is not Apple Warranty Imac. How do i ensure its genuine.Coz Apple Direct they offer Apple Remote and some freebies. If like normal shop they dont provide such freebies. Thanks
*
just be sure they are apple authorised reseller. try calling each of them up to check on freebies n compare. if u r not sure if they are authorised apple reseller, try check in apple malaysia's web site.

oh ya, and u might wanna wait for 1 month or so since there are numerous rumors that imac is going to be refreshed soon

Hey guys, I'm planning to move over from Windows to Mac. If I were to have a

Dell Studio XPS 16
and
Macbook Pro 13" or 15"

Can anyone convince me why I should get the Macbook Pro?
As I see the macbook pro 15" can play anygame as the dell studio xps can. Usually I would just play tf2, l4d, warcraft and those range of games and do my assignments. I don't see what I can miss out in a mac compared to windows. All I am lacking now is the experience using mac tongue.gif

EDIT: Oh yeah, is there any new macbook pros coming out soon? Might as well just wait or something if it isn't far from now smile.gif
*
xps 16 is a good laptop with good specs and a good price. it doesnt look as elegant n classy as macbook pro though.
before this, it was using vista which is crappy but now the win 7 is coming out, so it is BETTER in terms of OS. but do check out which kind of win7 are u planning to get. are u a developer? or just a normal user? if u r a student, i think it's ok to go for the standard edition. but if u r a hardcore developer, esp a .net developer, go for ultimate which can be costly.

also in terms of performance, even though xps 16 is better in hardware, it still lacks behind macbook pro DEFINITELY. coz of what? dell's bloatwares. the startup alone will take longer than mbp. and it's also heavier.

but i suggest u get mbp 13 and not 15 coz the price will jst shoot over the top due to applecare.

to b honest i was comparing xps 16 vs mbp 13 before i got mbp 13. smile.gif

u must consider the cost of AppleCare also. it's a lot more expensive for 15-17 inch MBP and the new IMAC, as compared to macbook white n mbp 13.

also, Mac OS X DOESSSSSS get viruses, but the possibility is lower because there's not much value. those virus guys prefer to spend 100% of their time creating issues for Windows (and that includes win7 which is not much better than its predecessor in terms of security).

Hello all the mac user there biggrin.gif

icon_question.gif
I had been using pc for many years.. and pc make me mad.gif sometimes...
so decide to try on mac

and i was confusing which laptop should i choose, macbook white or macbook pro
because they have the same spec...

at first i choose macb white
because i dont really need firewire cable or sd card slot,
and macbook white even offer 260 hard drive
but i read a review said that macbook white is vulnerable
so i start to confuse should i get a macb pro...
*
from what i know, the material used to build is different. macbook pro feels more solid and more classy. also, it is easier to take it off in case u wanna upgrade urself in the future. that's as far as i know la. smile.gif

macbook white is easy as well to upgrade ram and hdd

ooo then the only difference is the build quality?

anyway, for students, best to buy education price and ignore the freebies. with the amount of money saved, u can go for better sleeve/case and keyboard protector. the freebies r practically useless (at least for me)
