I personally don't think it's worth the effort (at least for now). While I'm also an iPhone user as well as a developer - I don't see the iPhone user community big enough to cater for a customized app just yet. Also, if we have an iPhone app, what's to say if others request apps for other mobile platforms.
As mentioned by others, mobile Safari so far works ok with the site; the lo-fi version provides a pretty quick access. For those who want to track new replies to your favorite threads - use the many RSS news readers that's available for the iPhone and just add your thread's RSS feed to it. Having said that, I think it's been suggested before (in the suggestions section) for a "mobile version" of LYN. This will be much easier to implement and will also be easier to port in order to support different mobile browser views. I would love to see this being work on rather than a customized app just for the iPhone OS platform. For users; there will be no need to add any extra apps and no problem of dealing with AppStore etc... |

ahhoe80, pretty good ideas you've got there. I like the third suggestion best.
I would also love to see "Football club updates" like for Liverpool and such where updates and team news would be updated to it. |

If someone can come out with a good idea that can justify the need for a dedicated iphone app for this forum, i have no problems developing one and putting it on the appstore(registered dev).
Also, the food finder option looks interesting, does anyone knows a good site where data can be aggregrated? hmm |

OT: This is perhaps the only thread Ive seen in LYN about iphone development. This post has been edited by ZipD: Mar 27 2009, 11:21 AM |

I did post once back in December over at Code Masters that there'll be a talk on iPhone development during the Mac & iPod discovery week held at 1U then. The talk was given by somebody who's contracted with Apple, but nobody seems interested then.
