I'm a X-QBox owner and currently using CM Vortex 752. The cooler fix nicely without any modded. However, when you pull out the mobo tray, the fan will stuck a bit but with a little push, you can take it out easily. The performance, acceptable but not so good. My temp only drop 3-4 C (current temp 53 - speedfan) but never go above 65.

For CM GeminiIIs, I compare both Vortex 752 and GeminiIIs side by side. GeminiIIs is taller so most probably can't fix into my X-Qbox. But the heat sink is much (more) better than vortex 752 and I bet it will lower the temp 3-5 C from my current temp.

I read some where here that Ruby Orb can fix into X-QBox nicely but problem with the space (block the ram and northbridge or southbridge heatsink, depend on your mobo layout). Performance, better than 752.

I bought Vortex 752 mostly because of price and also available stock. At my place, only 752 and geminiIIs is avaiable.

Yup, 53 when normal running and 64-63 when fully load. My processor is E8400.

When I use speedfan, the temp always 5 c higher than with any other temp detector software. When using everest, it barely reach 50 C.

The high temp is really a headache but I think it normal for normal room temp and the small casing size.

I have been there before, trying every possible solution to reduce the temp.

Thermal paste, air ventilation, fan. So, finally I just give up an accept the temp. Because when fully load, the temp is below 65. That was 5-6 months ago stories.

Added on July 17, 2009, 7:59 pmBut I beleive the problem was with the mobo fan controller. The fan speed is never reach the maximum capabilities of the fan. The max is around 1500rpm althouh the max is 2200 rpm.

Guys, I want to ask. Will the silverstone SUGO SG02 fit this specs?

Jetway AMD 790GX Combo Version
AMD Phenom II X4 940 True Quad Core AM2+ @ 3.0GHz
SAPPHIRE HD4890 VAPORX 1G DDR5
WD 1000GB Caviar BLACK ~ 1 TB 32MB Cache 7200RPM SATA
Silverstone SuGo SG02 (SF/BF)
Strider ST50F-230 (500W) MODULAR
XMS3 Dual-Channel 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz 9.9.9.24 (TWIN3X4GB1333C9)

If can, will it fit CF HD4890 in future? bout the heat issue, might cut up the casing to make extra holes to put fan

I hv exactly the same issue. The stock HSF was running in 1k RPM, which also amused me. I've set in the bios to run the fan @ max...but it still run the same. I'm starting to wonder...maybe stock fan was indeed only running @ 1k RPM. Currently, FL temp is in the region of 67-69C. Tht a E8400 running @3.2GHz (1.08v)

After market cooler is limited in this case. I'll need to mod the casing by cutting the HDD support rail if I want to bring the best out of this processor. hmm.gif

doh.gif hahha iv'e told u before tongue.gif. if no mod involve, u have to stick to what u alrdy have smile.gif.
if im at ur place, i'll open the casing & monitor the temp. if theres an improvement, i'll start with hole on the side of the casing smile.gif. Cutting the bar would be the last option.

No cutting on the outside. I'll just keep the casing as stock as possible. Anyway, I've done with tht support rail.

Now...time to choose a decent cooler. I'm looking @ CM GeminIIS or Xigmatek HDT-S963. Any suggestion ? smile.gif
