Guys, when's the intake for business courses next year?
Do they have twinning programmes to Monash Australia too for business?
*
March and July are the usual intakes as far as I know.
I heard this year business students won't be able to go for the exchange program. Not sure why.

I got some first year business core subject books for sale also.

how come?
I have two off days, but it still seems hectic.  rclxub.gif
*
Cause the lecturer that I don't like is gonna be lecturing two of my lectures and one of it is at 8am on a Friday. shakehead.gif
Then most of my classes last until 6pm. Which is going to be soooo jam when I want to go home. sad.gif
I hope I can get two days off as well... Hoping they won't allocate my tutorials on my 'off' days.

I hate 8am classes... lol. I think I missed more than half of my 8am lectures last semester. -.- Partly due to lecturer also. tongue.gif

Yea, Thiagu is not bad. But his classes can get a bit dull sometimes. Especially if it's like a 3pm class, I find myself wanting to fall asleep.

Hey,
are you taking psychological science and biz?
i would like to know more abt the course if you are.
going to be starting this course nxt month. smile.gif
*
Yea I'm taking Bachelor of Psychology and Business.
What would you like to know about the course? What major are you planning to take?
It's basically 2 subjects of psych and 2 subjects of business every semester.
For business students, they can choose two business major (e.g. management and finance), but for us, we get to choose one business major and the other one will be psych.

Also, because our course is one science on business. Sometimes the lectures and lab classes for psych will clash with business subjects. But it's usually not a big deal. The psych classes are the same as those who are doing pure Psychology course.

I would like to know how are the assessments for psychology like? And I'm not really sure on what major I'd like to pursue yet.
Thinking about international business or accounting.

So,how do you deal with lectures and labs clashing?
I'm not aware they offer pure psychology course in monash because it's not mentioned on the website.
Thanks smile.gif
*
Psychology has 2 hours of lecture and 2 hours of lab class every week.
Every semester, the lecturer from Australia will come over to give a 5 hours long compulsory lab which we MUST attend or we will fail the subject. It's something like in Australia they have to attend at least 70% or 80% of their lab classes. However, in Malaysia we only need to attend that compulsory lab and you can skip all the other labs if you want.

Assignments for psychology are mostly reports. We usually have 2 assignments per semester and then there's the interlearn online where we have to do small small assessments online which comes up to about 10% of the final result. If I'm not mistaken, all the psych subjects are 50% coursework, 50% exam. There's no hurdle for exam unlike in business subjects. Exams are mostly 2 hours, some 3, and all MCQ questions. Roughly 100+ MCQ questions, depends on the subject.

For me, I don't have any class clashing so far. My friends who has clashing classes go for either one of them. Most of the time, business tutorials are plenty, so just go for the one that doesn't clash with psychology lab and lectures. There's usually only 2 psychology lab to choose from. Lectures are all fixed timing so can't choose. If so happen two lectures also clash, then most of them usually go for business lecture cause psychology lectures are mostly available online (Australian ones). Cause there are many off-campus students as well.

QUOTE(zstan @ Jan 31 2011, 03:07 PM)
There isnt one Actually.

There's the bachelor in psychological science and business under the faculty of medicine and there's another bachelor of art
Psychology under another faculty. I wonder what's the difference.
*
Yea, it's under another faculty. I'm not very familiar with that course however.

Added on February 1, 2011, 3:21 pmAlso, do take note that if you're planning to do student exchange for this course, you might not be able to have both your psychology and business lecture in the same campus cause this degree is only available in Malaysia. So if you exchange to Australia, I heard that you have to travel between two campuses or you have to do psychology off-campus, which is like listening to lectures online and stuff.

Yea this will be my final year.
Err lecturers ar. Some are pretty interesting. Depends who you get I guess. I don't like one particular lecturer. And so happen she's teaching BOTH my psych subjects this semester. sad.gif
But basically they are all pretty good at what they do. smile.gif

I heard we can use sunway unis facilities?

Anyway Monash is rated for it's academic excellence not sports. P
*
Yea I think I've also heard somewhere that we can use Sunway's swimming pool.
Sunway students can also use Monash Library. So I think we can use their library as well. Not sure about this though.

If you wanna compare the campus, then I think Notthingham is definitely bigger and has better facilities.
But imo, it's all the way out in Semenyih. My friend studying there says it can be quite boring there but less distractions during exam time. smile.gif

QUOTE(mshunny @ Feb 7 2011, 01:50 PM)
maybe you could try carpooling? yeah, where do students park usually if they can't find any parking inside?
it's sure going to be full by the time our orientation starts.
*
Orientation time won't be full. First week of semester then you'll start to have headache looking for parking.
Normally if inside full, then I'll go park at the other side of Monash. It is suppose to be open if the paid parking is full. But sometimes they say for staff only and don't let you in. Then there's the other one where some of us call it "Forest", it can go quite deep in and is hella dirty when it rains and if I'm not mistaken, we Monash students can only park at the side of that road. Right inside there's a security guard parking for Sunway students only. Sometimes they do check ID, sometimes no.

You can also try your luck at the shoplot areas. But do take note that since Raya last year, police have been issuing summons for those that park illegally.

QUOTE(zstan @ Feb 7 2011, 02:30 PM)
waaaaaaaaaa....

if my class 9am what time should i reach to get a parking?  sad.gif
*
Err, I'm usually late for classes! haha.
Reach around 8.45am lor, or 8.30am to be safe. You might park all the way to the back.
It also depends, usually Friday not so bad.

If you reach at 8am, normally still lots of parking available.

QUOTE(ryan18 @ Feb 7 2011, 07:49 PM)
i think we cant choose our lecturers for lectures coz its already auto allocated but maybe you can choose your tutors for tutorial. ok this is what i think
AFW1000 - dr lee teck heang is recommended why? His marking is not so strict, and you can easily get high marks for assignments and in exams. here is a catch, i think he is quite new only entered Monash in 2009.
MKW1120 - puan nora why? many people thinks she is strict in her marking but many also thinks her marking is not strict, imagine getting full marks for assignments
MGW1010 - i dont think there is any choice available since dr imam is the only one. his marking is very strict, commas, grammar errors, etc he can spot
ECW1101 - alvin chan is super fast in his lecturing and tutoring. 1hr class completed in 30min, 2hr lecture in a little over an hour. but i heard he is very strict in marking
Elsa teaches Biz Law, and I am going to enter her class next sem
*
Yes you can't choose lecturers or lecture time unless some of them got two lectures.
Pn Nora is good. Her classes are interesting and even though she's strict in her marking, she gives you good advice. And if she's very satisfied with your work, she'll give you very high marks. She likes to do things in a more creative way usually. I got her as my tutor twice already and is very satisfied with her teaching.

Alvin Chan... errrr.... whistling.gif

rent a room is already like $500-600 man right??? expensive
*
The price is like that. That's why not everyone can afford to study overseas la. Food and lodging is gonna be expensive. Don't think you can get any free place to stay unless you have relatives living there. But then it will depend which campus you will be studying as well cause some of them are quite far from the city area. It's only gonna be one or two semester, just pay la nonit to look here look there to save up cause can't really save much one.

QUOTE(zstan @ Feb 14 2011, 11:54 PM)
then i'd rather sleep for 15 more minutes and walk under the hot sun then.  biggrin.gif
well, you can use this opportunity and make new friends.
*
Haha. Me too. Sometimes I sleep even longer that's why always end up late lol. Best to reach before 9.30am la. Cause by then sure full edi. This was last year la, hopefully this year less ppl drive to uni. Hehe.

This semester I have 4-6pm lectures on Wednesday and 8-10am lectures on Friday.
I'd rather have 10am to 3pm classes. Don't like to be on the road during peak hours. sad.gif
And I super hate 8am classes. Feels like I'm being a zombie in class. yawn.gif

Disappointed lah~ They are such a famous university in Malaysia.
How much does it cost to send the offer letter to us. ==

Anyway, just ignore me~
