Hello everyone !
I'm joining Monash Sunway for Engineering, July 2011. Most likely into Mechanical. Should I take ENG1081 (Physics for Engineering) or ENG1050 (Engineering Materials) ?

Hope to see you all at Orientation smile.gif

Welcome to Monash University Sunway Campus!

Well, ENG1081 Physics used to be one of the highly recommended units.
It was replaced by Profession starting this year.
The lecturer, Dr. Lan is brilliant and the projects are fun and requires team work.
However, you will have to spend more time on projects for this particular unit.

ENG1050 Engineering Materials is a nice unit.
You will learn a lot about material properties and be able to compare and choose the best material for a project.
You will be using a software called CES in this unit.

If you intend to study Mechanical Engineering, I would advise you to take both units.

Ah yes. Since they've made Engineering Profession compulsory, I guess I'll be taking ENG1091 (Mathematics for engineering), Dynamics, Materials and Profession for this semester, and then next semester Computing, Structures, Electrical Systems and Physics.

Thanks again smile.gif

I just hope that I don't have too many parking problems as I live in Damansara, and will be travelling everyday. Hope not too stressful also.  laugh.gif

You will gain more knowledge if you take up pre-u like SAM and A-level.
Hence, you won't be so stressed out when you enter year one.
