unlock and jailbreaking is 2 different thing. winpwn or pwnage will only jailbreak the iphone. To unlock the phone, use bootneuter (1st gen iphone) or yellowsn0w (2nd gen iphone).

This is a common mistake made by people, confusing between jailbreak and unlock.

@To TS
Please follow the guide on the pinned section on how to jailbreak, winpwn for windows and pwnagetool for mac. If your's is the 1st gen iphone then you need to use BootNeuter to unlock the baseband to enable local sim. If 2nd gen and it's not official unlock, use yellowsn0w but it does not work with 2.2.1 baseband (forgot whats the version no).

Because quickpwn only jailbreak the phone so that BootNeuter can run to unlock the phone. To unlock you need to jailbreak first hence using quickpwn in the process.

As explained by frozzbyte, to unlock, the iPhone needs to be jailbroken first. To jailbreak you use quickpwn. Only after the jailbreaking process using quickpwn, can you unlock the iPhone. To unlock, you need Bootneuter.

So, quickpwn is needed to facilitate the unlocking process and cannot unlock the iPhone.
