actually the car is fast, you might not feel it. LOL

seriously, your engine is a reliable one. just start out with an open pod, get the downpipe done( removing the cat con) you will gain. btw, exhaust sizing?
*
Where can i get my downpipe done & open pod air ram?
Changing downpipe achievable with stock turbo? or must change to bigger? hehehe!

ok, starting with open pod, source a open pod initially. hehehe. then head to a exhaust shop which does stainless steel fabrication, which also do FMIC pipings, get em to do it. i did mine about RM250 with all the silicon hoses and clamps. a little pricey, cos excluding the HKS open pod. haha.

next, downpipe and dumpipe. i've learnt, do a dump pipe.
down would be to remove the cat con. and dump is for an external exit for the actuator's flap beside the turbine wheel.
for a down/dump pipe, the same guys who can do the air ram, should be able to do this. UNLIKE what you may find in the "tech talk" section of this forum, where apparently SOME CLAIM AND INSIST fabricating a down/dump pipe will take a week, only a hand full of people are SPEACIALIZED to do it and etc. in fact i got mine done very fast and done right.

with that 2 upgrades, your surely gonna enjoy your stock L5/L2 or whatever 660 you have tongue.gif

the upgrades will allow your engine, turbo to run more efficiently. why? stock air filter box is crappy. see how restricted it is? tucked into the corner, blocked from proper air flow. i've read that open pod sucks hot air from engine bay heat. yea of cos. duh. right? but if stock filter box, cold and hot air both TARAK! your engine will wanna run on what? hopes and dreams? so more air, no matter hot cold like katie perry, is better than no air.

and for the down/dump pipe. its gonna mainly allow your turbo to spool up faster, no more cat con. but "forum" mechs will tell you, of but no back pressure. no this and that. so its better to not let your turbo spool? better drive a stock kancil then. with quicker spool, surely its gonna max out faster. but save to say, our JBJL ( not sure about L2 ) are happy revving higher. so what if the turbo maxes out?

and changing a bigger turbo has its perks, but that's a WHOLE different story....... rclxub.gif

ps : jason, we need to yum cha and chit chat la...on forum susah. wahahaha rclxm9.gif
Whoa...that some long explanation! Cool!

I've removed the cat con the last i changed to the rsr exhaust.
Looks like next up will be open pod! Seriously the stock air box really have a tough time getting air in.
Might DIY heat shield for the open pod, not sure if it helps.

Yeah should meet to have a drink! Much to chit chat about!
BTW still cant find you on FB. PM me your name/email tongue.gif

Hey guys!
Back from the holidays.

Did some stuff to my kancil.
1) Spray painted DIY my wheels to black. Quite a project. Wash, sand, 2 layers of Primer, 3 layers of Black, 2 layers of Clear.
Quite satisfied with the results. smile.gif

2) Did up foaming for the chassis and the A pillars. Still waiting for it to fully cure then i'll give reviews.
You can find him here : Chassis Foam

awesome jason! by the way..what's the grad of sandpaper u used ya? im itching to try it on my wheels.

another question, the primer/color is a normal ones or specifically for wheels/high temp?
*
Haha can't remember, but its light grade sand paper.
I used normal metal primer and normal spray paint.
Will only use hi temp paint later project for the calipers. smile.gif

damn..your like tim allen. the handy man. hehehe.

ok, give a noob some advise, while sanding, what will i be wanting achieve? sand until the paint is gone? or sand until its rough to allow the primer and color to stick?

its the end result glossy ka? it looks from your pix a little matte blush.gif  im so gonna diy man. haha
*
Hahaha Tim Allen! Will aim to achieve McGyver!

Sanding it down to smoothen surface, remove some old paint. Not remove all.
End result slight gloss on it unless you use matte paint. I learn most of these online.
youtube, forums etc.

Here's how it looks on the car.

seriously, awesome job. hehe. notworthy.gif

so what's next on the car? open pod? hehe.
Nah. Ditched the open pod.
Went ahead for a HKS drop-in filter got from halfcut. Sponge washable, exactly the same as the open pod sponge. Pretty good response so far. Better than the paper filter by a mile! smile.gif

Next up, i really need to get the paint job done. smile.gif

nice! arent those quite hard to find? but good buy. hehe. brows.gif
HKS drop-in for L5 is a rare item. Well since i can't find K&N drop-in this will do. Some say that the filtration for HKS is lousy.
But it does pack in the power tho. But somehow still itching for a pod filter. Get better sound of the engine grunt. tongue.gif

Added on September 24, 2011, 12:50 pmhey guys...and i want 2 know. what can i do 2 my 850 stock engine...its not a carby..its fuel injected using the same block as kelisa.....so what can i do for small mod
*
Fog lights are cool! I got a pair of IPF's for RM100 from halfcut shop.
Check out mudah.my you might get some good deals. smile.gif

Wow EFI kancil!
What would you want to achieve with the small mods?
There are some things that I would do.

Change to a better air filter.
Install grounding cables.
Add cold air intake hose.
Extractor change. (requires research) dont go hantam some extractor in it.

This thread has been so quiet. sad.gif sad.gif
You guys just lurking or everyone has abandoned the kancil for bigger newer cars?

Kancil is looking to buy a 2nd hand kancil. Would you guys recommend to go for auto transmission?
*
I have always preferred manual over auto esp on a NA small engine. smile.gif

BTW some updates.
Got my SLK a NRG boost meter. Loving it much now.
Also a Ultra Turbo Timer from halfcut as well. smile.gif

what tyre pressure to use for best performance, comfort and FC?

using stock size tyre, perodua sport rim.

currently using
front: 210(30)
back: 200(29)
*
Dude,
I don't think you can have best performance, comfort and FC all at one go.
Higher pressure> harder tires = not quite comfy
Lower pressure> softer tires = bad FC

30 front & 29 rear should be balanced.

Btw you were mentioning something about your gear change. I still have that similar case on my L5.
Some say its the ATF fluid too much that causes the lag, some say its the cables.
I have no clue on that. Still asking around on what causes it.

Cheers
Jason

hi guys... need some advice on exhaust... i'm transplanting my kancil's engine next week to l6 jb-jl.. but not sure about what exhaust setup is best for it... my current budget for exhaust is about rm400-500... i think need to change the whole exhaust right becoz current standard 850 exhaust cannot be use right?
*
Congrats! Another transplant!
I'm using RSR Magic on my JB-JL Auto, 2in all the way. Got it for RM450 from another kancil turbo user.
Stock exhaust is just not it. Don't suffocate your car. smile.gif

*
If the HU of Viva is single DIN then sure no prob.
I'm using Kenwood KDC-MP149 on mine. Can't remember how much tho, been a few years already. Still very good.

Guys,
I'm figuring out the high FC on my L5 turbo. For RM40 I seem to sometimes get 240km - 280km only. Not that I'm the pedal to the metal kind of driver. Just daily ride on 60% highway 40% elsewhere. I used to get 300km for it.

Could it be that my O2 sensor is malfunctioning? Running rich mostly?
