just bark them again. they stated that my area is only assigned with 1 IP block. i can prove them wrong because my office, which is just near to my house, is able to get various IPs.

just email to MCMC and ceo of TMNUT. will keep barking them at least once a day. let's see what's next!

I have a thread somewhere in here about this.

The problem with 124.x.x.x is that there's a packet loss problem somewhere in the local network. Some screwy equipment which seems to be working .. but is probably faulty dropping packets once awhile.

its about 20-30% packet loss to the US last I check. it's atrocious. I get 0 packet loss with my WIRELESS maxis 3G on a count of 2000 ping test - and I've always been a sceptic when it comes to wireless type connections. sheesh.
*
yeah...i realise the packet loss as well when i do ping to us or uk.....damn bad wei... sad.gif

if you're going to bark.. erm try to approach them with sensible information so you don't seem like the millions of others whos barked at them before you tongue.gif

Your area is probably assigned 1 IP block because you're connected to a particular bras (not those bras!)
Your office on the other hand, could be connected to another. There are MANY around.

My friend in damansara jaya is connected one that has multiple (bad, unfortunately) ip blocks.
Me in damansara intan just next door - locked to one bloody bad ip block.

How they assign who gets what .. is beyond me. People on the same street probably gets the same allocation but your neighbours behind you could get different ones entirely.

So the point is, it varies... quite without reason.

What we should be barking at them is why the hell different IP blocks get different routing treatment (which could ultimately be their internal policy so i don't know if things like that could be changed or not)

just my 2cents

TM can change anything, its a matter if they want to or not. You can even get a "good" IP while your next door neighbour gets a "bad" IP.

Is this Maxis broadband? Can you give more details such as initial setup costs, monthly fee and connection speed? Are you getting advertised speeds?

I only use it for gaming. I subscribed to the so-called unlimited data package (i believe there's a 3gb fair use policy per month thing) for rm100 per month. no other cost. speed is not too bad for gaming I guess, its like 800kbps downstream and like 100kbps upstream.. depends on where you are really.. but no packet loss for the mmo that i play which is the important thing.

Okay dude.
I caught you spamming at the Screamyx slowdowns thread.
You say the speed is slow in that thread.
And in this thread,
you're saying how fast is this speed.

Edit : Btw from what I heard from my friend, IP Core is just this new backbone they're building that will support a whole range of network services on top(over IP).. it's supposedly better in terms of bandwidth (eg. think 10gigabit for the trunks)

*
Too bad you'll have to wait 10 years before they're finally done with the new backbone. sweat.gif

lol roy_pck, how you get the ceo's email add? pm me if you dun mind, i want to complain as well. everytime i call 100 i will ask for the ceo email and/or the email direct to the technical team but they always ask me to email help@tm which is often replied with an automated response.

tarpaucase, u use maxis broadband to play wow? how's the latency?

the thing with the ip is, even if you somehow manage to get tmnet to allocate 60.* ip (the good ones) to your block, it's still risky. because who knows a few weeks later 60.* may become the bad ones. i used to get 218.* all the time, so i guess they assigned these ips to my block. 218.* ips are are fast and good, so no complains for me. then they scrapped off 218.* and allocate 115.* to me. 115.* was as good as 218.*, until recently around cny time. then it all went to hell. nowadays i have to keep reconnecting my PPP until i get 60.49.*. i've kept my current 60.49.* connection for a good 1 month already, i think. laugh.gif

off-topic a bit, but anyone knows of a way to circumvent the 'security' tmnet has in place where you try to reconnect too many times and then they just block you from retrying? then u have to wait for like 5-10 minutes before you can connect again. dying to know how to bypass this security mechanism.

I just call streamyx and have a long talk with one of their staff. I told her that I am lock into this 115.132 and 115.135 Ip which is very slow. Then she said my ip is dynamic, it will keep changing.

Then my blood really boil. I say: Yes, I know my ip is suppose to change but now it isn't. I'm stucked to this 115 ip and no matter how many times I restart my modem, it wont change.

You know what she reply me? She said: From here I can see your ip is changing. The first time your ip was 115.132.29.130. Then just now you restart, it became 115.132.228.223.

Maf***, I almost swear on the phone. I calmly told her that the 2 numbers behind doesnt really matter much. Its the first 2 numbers which make the differences. And now I cant get other ips except 115 ip which I hate so much.

She replied: You know IP address doesn't make a line slow or not. WTF She thought I stupid or what. Everyone is raving about this 115 IP yet she say doesnt matter.

Then she keep saying she cannot do anything because she doesnt know much about IP adress. Fark la streamyx.
