Actually in June is WWDC '09, the iPhone's OS SDK Roadmap event is on last March.

There's no way Apple is going back to the first generation back case design, unless there is a low-end version. I certainly hope that there's no low-end version as it's hard to choose for. Hopefully there's just 1 high-end model and that's it, flows with data plans.

That makes choosing data plan much more harder. Even with the current Maxis plan offers make me hold off first.

Added on May 16, 2009, 3:32 amHardMac claims that they have heard some interesting tidbits about future iPhones and iPods from their sources.

- The future iPhone models will have exactly the same shape and size than the current iPhone 3G, despite fakes and rumors circulating.
- Apple should refresh models for the iPod nano and Touch in september. Both should now include a camera, similarly to the iPhone.
The iPhone retaining its current shape and size is perhaps consistent with the recent rumors from China, but the addition of a camera to the iPod Touch and iPod Nano is a new possibility.

A camera on the iPod Touch may make the most sense as it would bring the iPhone and iPod Touch closer together in terms of features. A camera addition to the iPod Nano, however, would be a surprise. There has been talk that Apple might be positioning video to be a killer feature in the next iPhones, and this could be an extension of that.

Meanwhile, some Best Buy inventory screenshots reveal some product placeholders for something called "Project Charlie". Some are speculating that this could be the new iPhone, but we have our doubts of the significance of this. In the past, it's been shown that Best Buy frequently adds inventory items without any insider knowledge.

I would buy it, to me the iPhone 3G is still a worthy successor and a privillege 2 own. I'm in love with the shiny back case.

Well, from the banner we can see lots of applications from iPhone. So there will be news on the iPhone, maybe app sales or new App Store app launch. I dare not bet on iPhone announcement.

It makes the iPhone beneficial for those who like jungle tracking or in the woods a lot.

Apple has a very strong customer base in the States, that is why they have to make it attractive and affordable so that they can gain market share. Well, in countries like us we don't have much competition other than Apple iPhone and Blackberry smartphones. But in the states, there's a lot of competitions like the new Palm Pre, Android G1, Blackberry (which gains like 90% market share at all times), and Sidekick. There's a lot to be name actually.

Maxis won't get it any sooner, unless you go to the States and use the plan over there.

One good feature: new iPhone 3GS has oleophobic coating on the display which means it's anti fingerprint magnet.

In my opinion, maybe Apple thinks that iPhone 3G is good enough for now. That's why they maintain the almost identical features with more power performance under the hood and some other touch ups like better camera hardware & magnetometer. So for 2009 they have this 3GS, I'm sure 2010 will be a new ground up iPhone to come. Better than previous 3, hopefully.

I think I know Apple's strategy on the iPhone 3GS, it's for the competition with Palm Pre. To be honest, Palm Pre's Web OS in the device is stunning and better than the iPhone OS.

All of the new features in 3GS could be on the first generation iPhone long ago, but why Apple didn't? They're afraid of competitions and when competitions do come, they will boast off the features that competitors are having up their sleeves slightly better. Don't get me wrong, I use i3G.

I'm more anticipated with the coming OS 3.0 next week than the 3GS to be honest, but reviews of the 3GS might change my mind.

I believe everyone buying iPhone from Maxis will get the CD, contract or no contract based. I'm on prepaid plan by the way.

I think that they're living up the hype of the iPhone OS 3.0 as advertised on the website, as you know Malaysian's mind and most of the buyers don't really know the product well and they just buy it because it looks cool and for showing off purposes. Some even return or sell the iPhone cause they think that it's hard to use or lack of top-notch features that other mobile phone makers can (well you're the dumb one, I'm sorry but it's true) so this little things might help them, and for the simple minded iPhone users please read before you ask any stupid questions.
