By playing at home first, I guess we will have to be less tactical in the approach?
No more play safe away then settle at home eh? |

What's the chances of a midfield [Giggs - Scholes - Fletcher - Park]/[Park - Giggs - Scholes - Fletcher] while CR play upfront?

QUOTE(fookie @ Mar 21 2009, 11:28 PM) Deliberate handball, straight red.Our defense and midfield is all over the place The last thing we need now is to give back possession back to them easily which is we are doing at the moment. This post has been edited by alien2003: Mar 21 2009, 11:32 PM |

The midfield is not keeping the ball while the defense give a lot of spaces to Zamora & AJ to attack. VDS saved our backside with few very good saves already else it could be worse!
Giggs need to stop giving the ball away and put more pressure on ourselves This post has been edited by alien2003: Mar 21 2009, 11:38 PM |

On few occasions, Zamora is unmarked near the penalty box? From the way Rooney improved our game play in the 2nd half (until his RC), I would say Rooney should had started the game from the beginning? And the decision to play Fletcher on the right while CR leading the line didn't seems to work as well
We will have to thanks VDS to keeping the scoreline down with a few saves in the 1st half & Evans with some crucial blocks else it could have been worse, scoreline wise What happened to the midfield & defense in the 1st half? It seems like none of them want the ball, they just keep giving it back to Fulham players? We better start praying everyone will come back to us unscathed after the international break. We can't afford losing anymore players through injuries/knocks. We already down with 3 suspended players against Villa [Vidic, Scholes & Rooney] |

QUOTE(MyDevil @ Mar 22 2009, 10:06 AM) Paul Scholes has a history of handling balls in own penalty box. According to the commentators, it is the second time he did that. But then, the Fulham player was so close to him that I think it was instinct reflect from him. Scholes did the volleyball spike against Zenit then now with his volleyball net block so yeah, 2nd time! Rooney sending off is correct for me. The way he throw the ball is to hit the referee. I like the second half performance before Tevez came on. Rooney was always a threat until he was asked to occupy the right wing. Should have started. Park is not a bad right back too. Sympathy for wound-up Wayne QUOTE Wayne Rooney was the victim of his own urgency to help United salvage something from Saturday's defeat at Fulham, according to Sir Alex Ferguson and Ryan Giggs. The firebrand substitute, who injected drive and purpose to the Reds' second-half display at Craven Cottage, was sent off by referee Phil Dowd for two bookable offences. There were no qualms with his first caution, for hauling back Cottagers midfielder Olivier Dacourt, but his second yellow - for hurling the ball to Ryan Giggs to take a free-kick - drew contention. On MUTV, Sir Alex Ferguson pondered the referee's decision, asking: "Did he throw the ball at the referee? The ball went direct to where the free-kick was taken. Did it hit the referee? It didn't hit the referee. Was the ball thrown in anger? Yes, because he wants the game hurried up. He threw it with pace to get the game going. What can you say?" Giggs, who skippered the Reds, concurred with his manager's view. "The first one was a booking, Wayne pulled him (Dacourt) back," said the veteran midfielder. "But for the second booking, he just wanted to get the game going again. He threw the ball back to where the free-kick was and the referee’s opinion is that Wayne threw the ball at him. I think Wayne just wanted to keep the game going because we were losing and the free-kicks and bookings were slowing the game down." Rooney's dismissal followed a straight red card for Paul Scholes, meaning that they and defender Nemanja Vidic will all miss Aston Villa's visit to Old Trafford through suspension. http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...&newsid=6629369 Ryan: Still in our hands » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...&newsid=6629372 This post has been edited by alien2003: Mar 22 2009, 10:11 AM |

QUOTE(MyDevil @ Mar 22 2009, 10:14 AM) I don't know why SAF didn't use Carrick or Anderson to replace the tired legs in the second half as well. Scholes = 1 game for professional foul (deny a goal scoring opportunity)So, how many games will Rooney and Scholes be suspended? Rooney = 1 game as well for 2 bookable offense (2 YC => 1 RC always is 1 match ban) Plus Vida serving his 2nd & last match ban as well. This post has been edited by alien2003: Mar 22 2009, 10:16 AM |

Red alert for Fergie
QUOTE Fulham 2-0 Man Utd Soccer Saturday analysis Two defeats in a week, two men sent off and a 2-0 defeat at Craven Cottage... Charlie Nicholas warned of troubled times for Manchester United. The reigning Premier League champions had an afternoon to forget down by the Thames were they were sunk by goals in either half from Danny Murphy and Zoltan Gera. But the misery did not end there, little over a week after they were mauled at home by arch rivals Liverpool - who can move to within a point with victory over Aston Villa on Sunday. Both Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney were dismissed and will join Nemanja Vidic on the suspension list for the game with Aston Villa in two weeks' time, while Dimitar Berbatove was forced off with an injury. And those facts, as much as the defeat itself, should have alarm bells ringing around Old Trafford, says Nicholas. "That's two defeats and you're thinking 'can they handle the pressure?'," he told Soccer Saturday. "The answer would have to be yes, they can, but Scholes is now suspended, Rooney and Vidic suspended, there's problems with Berbatov being injured - these are troubled times. Defensively "Sir Alex Ferguson has got a big, big week ahead of him. "He will say they gave the ball away but he won't be happy they never got Berbatov or Ronaldo on the ball in the first half. Then they were down to 10 men, which didn't help, but they were still getting stretched all over the place defensively. "It's not that they were playing badly, they just didn't get their passing going and if they don't get their passing going they can't get going in attack. It was a massive result for the league but I tell you what; don't take too much away from Fulham - they were excellent. "There was no fluke about this. Fulham played well and were the better of the two sides. United just never got their passing going at all." Nicholas also believes that United can have few complaints about the events that unfolded. But he did admit that the two red cards, Scholes for handball on the line and Rooney for two bookings - the second throwing the ball back for a re-taken free-kick - came at just the wrong time. "There were 18 minutes gone and they were under the cosh a little bit, with Zamora and Andy Johnson giving them a tough time and the midfield good for Fulham, but the red card to Paul Scholes - there was no debate," he said. Fantastic "It was a good header from Hangeland a good save from Van Der Sar but Zamora just nods it back and Scholes can't do anything; he just puts his hands up and blocks it. It was a red card and a fantastic penalty from Danny Murphy. "Man United never really recovered, even though they put them under pressure for long periods of the second half. "But then Rooney came on and livened the whole thing up. Man United just about knocked the door down but for Mark Schwarzer; it was a fantastic goalkeeping display from him, but Fulham were rocking. "Man United looked then like it would be possible that they could even go on and win the game, but as they gambled and were throwing everything at them it was Zoltan Gera who got the decisive goal on the counter attack." "Rooney was fuming, he was furious (when he got sent off), but taking nothing away from Fulham. "The news will be all about Man United, all about Rooney's red card and Scholes' red card, but Fulham were very, very good today." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11667_5077318,00.html |

QUOTE(cristiano7mu @ Mar 22 2009, 06:40 PM) http://soccernet-akamai.espn.go.com/player...d=21046&cc=3888Believe it or not, that's his 1st RC for this season so he certainly has improved compared to last time As for now, we can only wait and see what will the referee include in his report regarding Rooney's sending off. If he do state clear that Rooney refused to leave the field after been sent off then big chance FA will charge him for improper conduct. |

Bulgaria's Berbatov blow
QUOTE Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov has been ruled out of Bulgaria's forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ireland and Cyprus through injury. The 28-year-old national team captain suffered an ankle injury in United's shock 2-0 defeat against Fulham on Saturday and will now miss the trip to Dublin on March 28 and the home tie against the Cypriots that follows. His injury comes as a blow to Bulgaria coach Stanimir Stoilov's hopes, with Manchester City's Martin Petrov and Leicester City's Alexandar Tunchev already laid low by injuries. Bulgarian national team doctor Mihail Iliev said: "There's no chance Berbatov of playing against Ireland and Cyprus. "I've talked to Manchester United's medical staff and they informed me that he'll need to rest in the next two weeks and his foot will be immovable during that period." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5085550,00.html This post has been edited by alien2003: Mar 22 2009, 10:52 PM |
