Get the dell studio15 with P8600, 4gb ram, 7200rpm hdd, full hd led since you into PS and maybe 64bit OS for future-proof depend on the driver situation. This should be able to handle your multitasking well enough and the 4570 is good enough for you since you mention your not into gaming. (laptop is never for gaming anyway , imho)

Any laptop would be faster then the 1 on ur rig now, even these under 2k. But if you plan to game then avoid any intel gma.

There are another CQ40 model with turion rm74 and hd3200, can get as low as 1.6k. Nice blend of cpu and gpu power and not over 2.2kg iirc.

That's nothing in the world that is guaranteed, you could get a Mac or Sony but they can phailed you anytime too....
Extend your warranty if you no confident....

About your laptop, since you have quite a budget there, get any laptop with discrete graphic card would do, just AVOID G8series.

How did you get P8700 and the bag at the same price? seem like a good deal, if you upgrade to p8700 in dell website, they charge you 252 bucks more.

HP dv2 - AMD Athlon Neo MK40 (1.4GHz) with HD3410 , the athlon neo would be much more powerful then atom and the 3410 shud suffice your need since you dont game.

Try the studio15 with T6500, it's Rm2799 with 500gb hdd promotion and win7 upgrade availbe, add 100-200 for Full HD LCD (since you mention you would do graphic work) shudnt cost over 3k and your good to go.
