QUOTE(Alexdino @ Apr 30 2009, 10:19 PM) but i wouldn't recommend buying ATi series although it is much much faster and cheaper than Gforce, but presently the Physx is making Gforce GPU run more compatible for most games how many games actually use the PhysX engine??? and game developers have said before PhysX is not essential for them since there's still no standard way to implement physics... and PhysX only make up a very small portion in the market... (in fact Havok is even more popular then PhysX...)

QUOTE(Alexdino @ Apr 30 2009, 10:27 PM) hello bro vint, go for HP pavilion, if 4k i think you should add another 500 buy at least - 2.66ghz or 3ghz core2duo Added on April 30, 2009, 10:30 pmi think physx will start with unreal engine because the last remnant are using physx for shadow rendering and Ati card having problem for that. ATi has problem cuz they support Havok, and Nvidia dun want to share PhysX with AMD... they negotiated before, but nothing came out of it... theoratically ATi cards ve no problem supporting PhysX... i ve seen Radeon HD 3850 running 3D Mark Vantage with PhysX enabled... anyway, with PhysX enabled it will drag down the framerate as well.. so imo PhysX is still not sth for laptops... unless u re using GTX 280/260...

QUOTE(Alexdino @ May 1 2009, 09:42 AM) if for GC, now 8600 barely playing new game with medium-low setting. try to find those with 8700GT or 9600GT will be good. HP pavilion Dv5 would be a great product, Intel® Centrino® 2 Processor Technology featuring Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T9600 (2.8 GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB) and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT with 512MB of dedicated memory getting a GeForce 8M is asking for troubles...

QUOTE(ITrocks @ May 1 2009, 12:28 PM) Looking at suppliers, rarely do they ever use Quadro GC's? Have any of you thought of building your own laptop? Ultimate customization What a dream.. Quadro is designed for professionals... u can find them in business and workstation laptops... as for building own laptop, Asus did release 1 before, but it's essentially usaing desktop parts in it... so there's no mobility to talk abt...

QUOTE(C-Note @ May 1 2009, 05:03 PM) hey guys which one is better , Acer or Asus? after some research i found out that acer is cheaper but features are not compromised..quite value-for-buck. Asus , on the other hand, has a more a solid build and seems to be more superior. what do u guys say? Acer - good spec for price Asus 2yrs int'l warranty depends on wat u want... but if u re really gping for performance-price ratio, i recommend BenQ instead...

imo, coolers dun help much... i ve one from AC Ryan, but temp diff is not a lot...
for Studio 15, i still recommend to get a dedicated GPU as it will help not juz in gaming, but also like HD videos...
as for gaming laptop, i would suggest BenQ S42, rm3599, comes with C2D P8700, GeForce 9600M GT, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, hybrid graphic, 14"...

QUOTE(Angel01 @ May 4 2009, 12:21 PM) hmm then how to cool down laptops? Laptops can be used for torrents and some gaming right? i assume the laptop will be hot. ya, u can use for that... when gaming the laptop will be hot definetely, since that's a lot of work for it to do, but wouldn't be to the pt of overheat and shut down unless u fiddled with the clock...
