they have different spec, u80v comes with ati hd4570 and k50in comes with nvidia g102
which u80v still win. both come with webcam/

the ram has minimal effect and hdd can change yourself.
warranty is 1 year only.

my friend is using one, so far no problem, heat is minimal, the only thing is the lid is glossy and hinge is not metal like the other thinkpad.

full white colour seems rare on that budget.
<2k, acer 4736, acer 4535, inspiron 14, compaq cq40

lag or not, depends on how complex your programming.
school work should be fine with basic setup.
