Wow..you're really left behind dude. It is officially unlock since the day Maxis launched 3G iPhone (20th March 2009).

You're gonna be disappointed by the thrade in.

Here are the break down on the trade in price:

*Need to signup a contract.

2G 8GB to 3G 8/16GB is only: RM 390
2G 16GB to 3G 16GB is only: RM 430

Example: A 2 year iValue plan at RM 1910, with the trade in price of your phone for only RM 390, your full payment will be RM 1580.

3G 8GB to 3G 8/16GB is only: RM 900
3G 16GB to 3G 16GB is only: RM 1200

Example: A 2 year iValue plan which is RM 1910, with the trade in price of your phone for only RM 900, your full payment will be RM 1010.

2G 8GB to 3G 8GB or 3G 16GB
Fullbox with all hardwares: RM 390
Phone with headset: RM 290

2G 16GB to 3G 16GB
Fullbox with all hardwares: RM 430
Phone with headset: RM 330

*just to add on: Trade in only valid from 28thMay till 18th June

I concur with string. They will not trade up for a 3GS. As for the 3G to 3G trade in, here you go:

3G 8GB to 3G 8GB : Rm 900
3G 16GB to 3G 16GB: RM 1200

Just pop in any simcard and it will work. Even did jailbreak a Maxis iPhone 3G unit and works the same may it be DIGI, Celcom, Umobile simcard. As long as it is offcially unlock, you're good to go. Same thing even if you travel overseas.

Check the first post of this thread please. Answers are available to you on the first post and READ!!!!.

It's up to you mate. We would recommend that you get it here with Maxis since warranty is available here. Even a small loose button, they will change it for you with a new unit.

If you would get a Singtel unit, you would need to travel to S'pore to get it fixed and you need the receipt as prove that you purchase it from one of the local telco centres.

As for jailbreaking iPhones, they will not block the phone but if you take it back for warranty, they will reject your request to one to one exchange for a brand new set as they will not entertain a jailbreak iPhone.

Like tink and beavis said, both Maxis and Singtel iPhone units are officially unlocked. At the end of the day, it's your choice.

Ask nokia2003. He told me he's getting a new replacement unit for a loose toggle button. So..i'll take his words. You guys know better on these warranty issues. I'm just gathering infos from you guys. If my statement is wrong, i do stand corrected.

No prob. Just extra work for me. I may not be so nice to merge next time. Deleting is easier..hahhahaha..Please ask anyone who post Maxis 3GS queries on Singtel thread to post it here.

Anyway, there will be a new thread by teikwing soon for Maxis 3GS and until the price is available, all Maxis 3GS discussion will be held in this thread.
