Work hard, study smart, sure can survive one. tongue.gif

You want to go for Advanced Diploma....go TARC, but AD is usually considered lower than a Bachelor's degree.

You plan to go for degree or not?

Foundation and Diploma is different lah bro, foundation is for you to prepare for undergraduate courses.

Of course its hard.....cuz you kept thinking its hard. Think the other way around.

Im also planning to study foundation at UTAR. biggrin.gif

I should be sitting for STPM this year, but dropout last October cuz lack of interest (science stream), 2 of my friends also follow suit.

I was a foundation student in UTAR in the early days...entered the course after my form 5. And that time, foundation for me was in TARC, since UTAR can't handle foundation on their own. So I stayed in Setapak for a year before moving into PJ for my degree.

Foundation compare to form six? Huh...not saying that I'm boasting, but I everyday lepak, play around also can pass...and get some A's along the way. The key is do all your assignments and get high marks for them. For most subjects are not 100% marks on final exams (unlike all the school paper u taken so far). MOST subjects are 30% Assignment/Homework/Quiz, and 70% Final exams. Some are more, some are less, but the key that I emphasize is still....DO YOUR HOMEWORKS!

Oh yeah, if tak tau buat you can discuss with your friends obviously. Getting different people's view on your assignment can be handy. Exchanging knowledge is wise. Do it often.

And you'll be fine. Really. smile.gif

Im having fun at there, sometimes go oldtown cari makan, or go waterfall wif frenz, or fishing at westlake, or go ipoh jln jln cari makan+awek tongue.gif etc . Anyway, if u like a peaceful life, kampar will be ur choice, its like living in a different world man. otherwise, go study in KL if u like city life smile.gif , the choice is urs.

-_______________________________- i am from foundation....

if u think utar foundation is hard to survive, forget about degree and go to tarc for diploma and then consider if u wanna join degree. Cause if foundation rate 3 out of 10 in hardness, then degree will be 6.

or just go work.

The general UTAR rule that newbies should know......

Get C = sap sap sui........ close 1 ear and chop 1 hand then go take the test also can still get it

Get A = climbing mount Everest and from Everest want to climb to heaven sumore.......

That's why the average CGPA (degree) is around 2.5 - 2.9.
People with a second upper grade (CGPA 3.0 - 3.49) is quite uncommon, at most also 10% - 20% of the population.
First class students are rare like a fish swimming in the desert, those are super duper heavenly godlike people. Usually less than 5% of the population......

Added on March 13, 2009, 2:15 amThe above comparision applies only for the degree in the Sciences. I don't know how is it in the Business, IT or Mass Com campuses.

You can achieve it if you decided to study smart and put effort in you studies.

Foundation shouldn't be any problem if you only aim for pass.

A lot of students still honey moon and didn't put any effort. Then they failed, blame the foundation and spread the rumors. Can't stand those guys.

TS!

For your info, a diploma grad nowadays is not a proud things to consider, nor even the TARC offering advance dip. Hence, foundation is the basic entry when your enter tertiary educationn. Any course will be the same process, from Foundation/certificate -->Diploma/adv diploma/HND--->Degree--->Master --->Phd....Jsut to let your know, foundation to diploma, close one eyes can easily pass & score. If that is bothering you, jsut quit study & come out to work...

IT of course is science stream, it's more like engineering.

Computer Engineering, Communications & Networking both require Foundation in Science.

The other 3 IT courses you will take Foundation in Arts.

Definitely easier than STPM. Otherwise, failing rate would be very high. smile.gif

I had friends that scored very well in UTAR, and some failed. Some said easy, some said hard.

Those who failed although still hardworking - wrong technique way of study.

If you determine to go there, then go for it. Make sure you take serious in your studies.

I also always emphasize study smart.

-_______________________________- i am from foundation....

if u think utar foundation is hard to survive, forget about degree and go to tarc for diploma and then consider if u wanna join degree. Cause if foundation rate 3 out of 10 in hardness, then degree will be 6.

or just go work.
*
I studied 2 years of diploma in KTAR before getting into UTAR to continue my studies.

Do not underestimate diploma as it's quite tough for me. If you rate degree as 6 out of 10, then i would rate diploma as 8 out of 10.

Getting a B in KTAR is different from getting a B in UTAR I would say. It's tougher than you can imagine.

if i'm not mistaken, you're required to fill in the degree course that you're interested to pursue. you can choose up to 5 choices but it's not a must if you dont have that much options.

almost all, ALMOST, would not accept a UTAR foundation cert without putting you through a few units or exams during your course transfer.... after all, course structures for foundation studies differ from uni to uni, some uni might not have taught you smtg that the other uni you are applying for wants you to have studied in your foundation studies.... and not forgetting that everyone's a lil greedy.... who wouldn't wanna earn that extra cash... laugh.gif
