cool but reports have said that DXD1 is much better in term of speed and response.. don't know how much of that will translate into cooked roms... but will wait and see the response from early adopters...
*
Wah, is that the latest ROM? Have talked to Samsung technician and they said nothing firm on when the latest will be official in malaysia

for maps u can download it from malfreemaps or malsingmaps website..
i use malfreemaps cuz they update the map every monday..
but i dunno bout malsingmaps..anyone use malsingmaps here?
*
The pros on MFM: weekly updates and FREE

The cons on MSM: no one knows when will be the next update.. biggrin.gif ..only recently they update after about 6 months of interval of the last one..Plus, you have to contribute POIs

Yes, its a SG set, since I stay in JB, well, the market here most of the time got this kinda sets.
Cool, I've checked the guide for installing garmin (the 2a&2b), I'll try it tomorrow cos the set is with my friend..
Hope everything works out fine....

The Omnia is nice, built quality is good, only thing is I've oledi bought a HTC diamond last week. I didn't know its gonna be that small, like toys.
Omnia feels like my previous XDA2 I'm used to...solid feel.
Well, there is always a next time.
*
Maps for SG and Msia are well updated for garmin thanks to our hardworking mappers..hence the reason for our preference. in other word, it's well supported.

hold your breath..6.5 and 7 will come by probably mid and end of this year..so choose wisely before buying new PDA. not all current PDAs OFFICIALLY support those new OS.

Added on May 11, 2009, 9:33 amHas anyone of you experienced FONT SIZE or TYPE changed in PHONEBOOK or SETTINGS after installing an application?

Particularly application that has specialised FONT like arabic?

My recent one involved installing several calculators like Panoramic and HiCalc. and then I download mp3's of Quran for Pocket Islam..then I realised that the FONT SIZE in PHONEBOOK became soooo small..

Which application interfere with the size actually? I know after I install the Pocket Islam everything still seems fine. is there anyway I can do to change it back maybe by using SKtools? I'll try to post a screenshot later on

What's wrong with contributing 2 POIs?
Do you know how difficult to track and how hard to compile the maps?
How many man hours had been spend in their maps and people are still complaining.  vmad.gif

Do I in anyway said I'm complaining? yawn.gif
I'm simply pointing out the difference between MSM and MFM.
Any problem in digesting that statement?

maybe dat is because u didnt install samsung modem driver in ur pc first..
during updating the firmware it usually will change to phone part after finished update pda part..
it happened to me during my 1st time try to update firmware tongue.gif

install samsung modem driver and run update again..
the installer in 1st page..

*
Latest firmware update is not recommended to use the driver. That's what had been told to me by the samsung's techie..perhaps refugee you should put a note at front page on that

can you check in your windows/fonts folder
if there is font try delete it and soft reset..
(default one should be empty)

but you can't simply delete it..
rename the font extension file from *.ttf to something else
then delete it..

some of the applications are using the fonts that u installed on ur device..

Thanks for the suggestion. but to no avail. no font in the default one rclxub.gif

That is not the difference between the maps, that is the difference of getting the maps.
The difference of the maps are in the polygons, details of roads, routability, speed of route recalculation etc.
How would you compare a coke and tap water? Paid and Free?

Sorry if what I wrote offended you, but I've seem too much people complaining about that.
*
Not at all. Obviously I'm discussing about the difference in terms of availability of those maps. whether regular update or contribution needed. I have no problem anyway since I'm a contributor as well but not to the point of being a polygon mapper.

Still the difference of the properties of the map are subjective since there is no telling that one is good than the other. This is due to update on certain area perhaps better for one map but not for the other one. Although.. they do have issue with copyright fight which I believe should not be discussed here anyway. Mainly that's the reason I never discussed which is better. But in terms of availability obviously we have a clear winner.

Thanks guys, what about the video playback question? Anyone here able to use their phone to watch normal TV ep releases (avi format Divx) without downconverting like I mentioned?
*
I have never try TV series. but i can assure you that DVD ripped confirmed can be played.

Two points to be noted though:

1. Ensure settings for the rip compatible with the players in Omnia like WM player or coreplayer..esp the audio codec

2. A direct rip without any downgrade still can be played but the issue is the file size might be too big. This is true for full movies.. Last time my Iron Man movie consume 1.1 GB of my omnia's internal storage..you might have 16GB + 16GB SDHC..but I'm pretty sure a moviegoers like me will not be satisfied with only 1-2 movies in the pretty darn big memory capacity. Downgrade movie still looks excellent even when played thru TV-out..The keyword here is..settings

Thanks. Now I must decide whether to get Omnia or wait for HD or Pre... sigh
*
If you ask me, I'll kept in check my hard cold cash for the reincarnation of the Palm..It might have an upper hand over current crops of winmo and OSX

HD..well..it's a quality upgrade of current omnia hardware..particularly the AMOLED capacitive screen..

but it is a symbian..I just wish they upgrade the GPS chipset to SIrf star..might be capable of lock even in the building

and if you prefer symbian..might as well worth waiting for N97

the sole reason why i still hang to the standard one. some may say I'm not "winmoan" enough to try and error biggrin.gif . but i don't want the unnecessary headache. a lot may disagree I know. it's subjective and preference issue.

Nway, I tried shake and save application (which is a freeware for screen capture)..basically you simply shake and it will save the screen image.

problem is, the application ask for newer version of microsoft netframe..I thought 3.5 already embedded in our latest IA5?

anyone to clarify? or is there any more newest netframe?
