Went shopping in Akihabara, nothing much in terms of Apple stuff other than a smattering of stores here and there, and the usual Apple accessories. It's getting pretty slow business-wise, perhaps it's a sign of "things to come", a.k.a "the refresh".
Speaking of refresh, didnt reallly get enough proper sleep (arrive Narita, Tokyo at 0750, freshen up, no sleep and all, got into the Keisei+JR East line to Akihabara by 11am) to get myself fresh from bed to go to work today. And if anyone's been tuning in to the news, the Fedex plane crash in Narita International Airport in Tokyo, Japan,

happened right before time for I got to go to work at 1030LMT. That sorta keep things really in perspective, when you think about the probability of that same crash happening to any aviators, it is just a matter of not being in that sticky spot at that point in time. Surface wind conditions were crazy enough to make walking on the tarmac/apron uncomfortable, I had to lean against the wind to do my walkaround!

That had to close the long runway RMY34L, with the wreckage of the plane to the left of the runway, and opened up the equally frighteningly short parallel runway RM34R for departures and arrival, and mind you, the winds are'nt letting up. Crosswind of up to 45KIAS, and *gulp*, it was my sector to fly back to KLIA. Thankfully, nothing crazy happened, but the seatbelt sign was on till we cruised for a while at 38,000ft just to be sure.
I just thank God I am back here safely. My deepest condolences to the family of the two pilots, that is the way things are in the aviation world. You just have to pray that you don't get "selected" within that critical moment in time where things like this happens.
Rant over. You don't know how glad and thankful I am to be on solid ground again.
