what say u guys about the recent fight night 21?
really great month for MMA. dream 13, vera vs jones, ufc 111 (watch the prelims guys), So much to watch and digest. i liked how kenny put gomi away. gomi really has a lot of humble pie to eat after demise of pride. sad to say but the "fire" no longer in "fireball kid" also liked jorge rivera and roy nelson's performances. didn't hear jorge mention sityodtong anymore. what happened between kenny/jorge and dellagrotte? as to kenny, i didn't really warm to his style but i respect his skills. he did bcome noticably humbler after fight with bj. i really didn't like the "i want bj's belt!" hype. but i know it is mostly ufc hype machine going overtime on top of american production. Off topic: frankly i prefer the proffesionalism of japanese shows. even the title fights begin with national anthem. the first and third nog vs fedor fights sent shivers down my spine coz of that. the intensity is really felt and the repsect and heart i feel so much more strongly. Difference between Bushido/Samurai spirit + honour/respect in japanese shows (crowd + fighters) compared to the drunken frenetic MOB of the western hemisphere and UFC hegemony (US/UK/Aus) a bloody gladitorial spectacle reminiscent of what went on in the roman ampitheatres/colliseum. So different the way west and east conceptualise combat and the idea of "warrior". I also like how the japanese go for the EPIC quality to their shows. E.g. Pride/Dream/K1 use orchestral scores for their opening videos (read: not fighter entrance music) and the depiction of 1 in 6,000,000,000. EPIC AWESOMENESS! And the fights are really that. Then UFC raped Pride... More mainstream, more fights, the level of competition definitely HAS GONE UP. So can't really complain...personal preference i guess doesn't really count anymore isn't it? important thing is...THIS IS MMA! Soooo....Can't wait for strikeforce Nashville and uFC 112. I say Henderson takes the belt from Shields, Mousassi submits King Mo and Aoki snaps Melendez (could end up Melendez KO Aoki, so 50/50 on this) BJ should win the belt easily, as should Anderson. These two guys are in their own league. Almost untouchable. Sidenote: Dana White shortlisted for TIME 100. As to the question of who wins between Brett Rogers and overeem...Overeem by flying knee. BUT, seeing roger's performance against fedor and him saying it will never happen again (him losing a fight), i would assume he has upped his game considerably. he is no pushover...could end up with him for the TKO. 50/50 Added on April 4, 2010, 3:50 pm QUOTE(ate @ Mar 29 2010, 08:27 AM) Padan muka that playboy face, talk so much shit , he really deserve what he get ,also those fake mma fans and stupid people who claims themselves as the know it all at sherdog, only 2 people against 13 or was it 14 voted carwin would win and have playboy face submitting him at the end of 1st round, the best guard my butt lah, lose by punches only. yes...me too I miss the old nog loved his fights against barnett, sylvia, and werdum (the bjj skills was EPIC) it's funny that he is only early 30's and already looks so old...(i know...coz of all the brutal beatdowns) still crazy to me everytime i see him Added on April 11, 2010, 7:57 amWTH! QUOTE(RyonanGT @ Apr 20 2010, 06:35 PM) u kidding me right, he wasnt lucky according to the score judges, he dominated that fight, mousasi could barely stand for few secs, then takedown, he got him to a point that he couldnt do anything. If lawal gassed out at 2nd round then i guess mousasi was just waiting to be beaten. He missed all the punches, made a kick to the face while on the ground on the 5th round which was a deduct from his point, he probrably was at the brink of losing his mind so he thought a deductable point was a last resort as long as he knockout or dazed him. There goes one of the best fedor's student. |

I am so sick of lay and pray fighters....
especially a title match 5 rounder... i don't think i can stand to watch that again. I'm no longer interested in GSP's fights |

King mo didn't dominate mousasi...
mousasi just couldn't stop his TD... so he lost. mousasi landed more shots from the bottom. Then again, i feel mousasi is different that night. He was very tentative, not agressive with striking (maybe cos scared of TD) and his guard is not where i expected it to be, so yeah, his head is somewhere else that night.... i expected more out of him.
